PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dikkie Dirk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sleet Leonidas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dirk connects with a crisp jab.
Leonidas looks for a takedown but Dirk sprawls well.
Dirk throws a combination. Leonidas tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

It looks like Sleet Leonidas has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Leonidas fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Leonidas shoots in but Dirk avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Dikkie Dirk has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sleet Leonidas.
Leonidas shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Dirk defends it nicely.

Dirk controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Leonidas wants to improve his position but Dirk is controlling well.

Dirk seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Leonidas for as long as he can get away with.

Dirk bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Leonidas is trying to get back to half guard.

Leonidas explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Dirk throws a right and a left that Leonidas avoids nicely.
Dirk has a takedown stuffed.

and Dirk counters with a head kick. That will keep Leonidas thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Dirk throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Leonidas was covering up waiting for the punch and Dirk finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Leonidas wants to get back to his feet but Dirk is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Dirk moves into range and clinches up with Leonidas.

and Dirk counters with a nice double leg into side control. Leonidas won't be happy with that.
Dirk cracks Leonidas with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Leonidas should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Leonidas is not content to let Dirk control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dirk lands a few punches from side control.

Dirk is trying to get an arm triangle but Leonidas is defending well.

Dirk tries to stand but Leonidas controls the position and pulls Dirk into his guard.

Dirk would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Leonidas shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Leonidas showed some decent athleticism there.
Dirk moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Leonidas drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Dirk dives on top into guard.
Dirk stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Leonidas swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Dirk pushes down on Leonidas's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Leonidas wants to improve his position but Dirk is controlling well.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Dikkie Dirk.
Well Dirk has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
