PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Greg Gaggenwanker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Grady James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gaggenwanker comes into the arena with The Man Comes Around blaring out of the sound system. The crowd seem to be enjoying James's choice of entrance music: Giorgio Moroder - Midnight Express. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Greg Gaggenwanker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Grady James!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed right hand from James misses the target.
A looping hook to the body misses from James. Gaggenwanker does a little dance to reset his feet.
James looks to throw the jab but Gaggenwanker is out of range.
Gaggenwanker throws a low kick but it's checked well by James.
James stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and James wants it to stay on the feet.
James takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Gaggenwanker looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
James on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.

Gaggenwanker drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Gaggenwanker jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

James has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Gaggenwanker can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

James tries to free his leg and advance position but Gaggenwanker is retaining full guard.

James really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gaggenwanker. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
James postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
James must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
James not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Gaggenwanker will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

James changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Gaggenwanker looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Gaggenwanker has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. James is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Gaggenwanker.

That's time! Gaggenwanker's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Gaggenwanker's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
