Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Clovis Alfred (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Edmilson Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Edmilson Alves is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Clovis Alfred!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Edmilson Alves!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Luis Engracia and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alves stuffs the takedown attempt from Alfred. Alfred gets slowly back to his feet.

Alfred shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Alves is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Alves escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Alfred gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Alves is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Edmilson Alves wasn't active enough on the ground.
Alfred shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Alves pinned against the cage. Alves gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Alfred lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Alves circles away quickly and effectively.

and Alfred counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Alves's guard now.
Alves is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Alves is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Alfred might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Alfred working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Alves doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Alves manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Alves gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Alves shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Alfred napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Alves wants to lay and pray for a moment but Alfred keeps working.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

and Alves counters with a big head kick but Alfred shrugs it off.

so Alves counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Edmilson Alves showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Alves closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Alves lands in his opponent's guard.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Edmilson Alves hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Alves feints and as Alfred raises his hands in defense, Alves changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Alfred wants to stand but Alves is controlling the position.

Alves stands up over Alfred, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Alves drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Alfred manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Alves has Alfred in his guard.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Alfred is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Alves is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Alves has escaped and now he's on top!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Alfred is looking for a sweep.

Edmilson Alves comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Alves has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
