Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jonah Paul (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Cruise (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cruise shoots in for a double leg but Paul sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Paul tries to clinch there but Cruise circles away.

Paul tries to keep at a distance but Cruise has taken the fight into the clinch. Cruise fails to pull guard.

Paul tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Cruise gets through Paul's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Paul is pressed up against the cage. Cruise has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Paul down to the mat. Paul avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Jonah Paul has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jason Cruise. Cruise clinches. Paul misses with a knee strike.

Cruise gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Paul is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Paul is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Cruise thows a big elbow that misses.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Cruise can do anything to dispel that myth. Cruise is trying to escape the mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Paul trying to control but he's not successful this time. Cruise is looking to improve his position but Paul isn't that keen on the idea.

Paul is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Cruise is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cruise looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Paul is fending him off so far but Cruise persists. Nope, Paul circles away and we're back to standing. Paul is trying hard to land a takedown here. Cruise sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Cruise fails with a takedown attempt. Paul tries to close the distance and clinch but Cruise swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Cruise has managed to clinch.
Paul makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. Cruise is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Paul can't fight it off and eventually Cruise manages to take the fight to the floor. Paul looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Cruise must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Cruise is breathing heavily. Paul controls Cruise momentarily but Cruise frees himself. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Paul is looking to stand up but Cruise isn't so interested in that idea.
That's one minute gone in the round. Paul keeping full guard, as Cruise tries to pass. Cruise postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Cruise won't allow Paul to get back to his feet. Paul manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Cruise manages to get himself to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Paul wants to stand but Cruise is controlling his posture from full guard. Cruise controlling the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Paul trying to control but Cruise is working from the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Jason Cruise will probably get the nod - 10:9. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!
Cruise changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Paul looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Paul managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Cruise.
Cruise working the strikes but Paul uses the opportunity to regain half guard. Cruise prevents Paul from standing back up.

Both fighters are breathing heavily. Paul blocking the ground and pound attempt from Cruise.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Cruise tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Paul was well out of range. Poor timing from Cruise. Paul shoots in but Cruise avoids the takedown attempt easily. Cruise scores with a takedown into Paul's guard. Paul bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Cruise's guard. Paul is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Cruise looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Paul puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cruise wants to get back to full guard. Paul wants to take a breather but Cruise is having none of it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cruise is trying to stand back up but Paul is controlling him
That's three minutes gone in the round. Well, if Paul is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Paul clinches up against the cage. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Paul tries to land a knee to the head but Cruise blocks with his arms.

Jonah Paul has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Jason Cruise is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Paul lands on the inside with an uppercut.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Jason Cruise. I've got Cruise winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
