The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Paulo fails with the takedown. Rozier tries to clinch up. Paulo keeps the fight on the outside. Rozier has taken the fight to the clinch.
Rozier gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Rozier must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Paulo throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Rozier is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Paulo is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Rozier working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Paulo's head. Paulo escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Rozier gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Rozier postures up in Paulo's guard and throws a big left but Paulo blocks it. Rozier loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Rozier connects with a couple of short punches. Paulo avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Rozier really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Paulo. Rozier chips away with some ground and pound. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! That's one minute gone in the round. Rozier stands up over Paulo, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Paulo really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Paulo preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Paulo has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Rozier can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Paulo has his foot on Rozier's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Rozier works his way back into a safe position though. Paulo working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Rozier. Rozier throwing strikes from guard but Paulo blocks nicely. Rozier has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Paulo to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Rozier is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Paulo pulls down on the head and he's put Rozier to sleep! This one is all over!
