Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Joao Carlos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roberto Bolognesi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Carlos might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Nego drama. Joao Carlos could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Roberto Bolognesi's chin.

1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Roberto Bolognesi! The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Mauricio Rocha and Seu Braga.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bolognesi dives in and grabs Carlos's left leg, looking for a takedown. Carlos pushes down on Bolognesi's head and hops out. Bolognesi darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Bolognesi sitting and controlling from the half guard. Carlos slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Bolognesi trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Bolognesi is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Bolognesi won't allow Carlos to sweep him here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bolognesi is looking to work some ground and pound but Carlos has wrist control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Carlos is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Bolognesi not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Roberto Bolognesi hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Bolognesi shoots in and gets a takedown into Carlos's guard. Bolognesi postures up.

Carlos is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Bolognesi postures up and lands a big shot to Carlos's brow.

Bolognesi in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Bolognesi controls from within his opponent's guard. Carlos looking to hit a scissor sweep but Bolognesi is one step ahead there. Carlos can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Bolognesi controls the pace. Bolognesi's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Bolognesi is defended easily by Carlos. Bolognesi forces Carlos back against the cage and clinches. Carlos jumps guard but Bolognesi stands there with Carlos around his waist. Carlos gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Carlos manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Joao Carlos has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Roberto Bolognesi. Bolognesi stops a takedown attempt from Carlos.
Bolognesi is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Carlos pulls him back up using the underhooks. Carlos is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Bolognesi gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Carlos has Bolognesi pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Bolognesi manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Bolognesi drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Carlos gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Carlos tries to pull guard but Bolognesi holds him up against the cage and eventually Carlos drops back down to his feet.
Bolognesi has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Carlos clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! Carlos is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Bolognesi gets his hands free as Carlos looks to control. Bolognesi slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

Carlos is trying to get back to his feet but Bolognesi has full control of the position and if anything, Carlos has just worked his way into a worse spot. Can Carlos hold on?! Bolognesi is landing more strikes to his hapless foe.

Roberto Bolognesi showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Carlos tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Bolognesi is in Carlos's guard. Carlos lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Bolognesi! Bolognesi squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Carlos is looking to stand but Carlos has his arms wrapped tightly around him, looking to prevent the damage.
Carlos trying to control but Bolognesi is having none of it. Bolognesi's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Carlos looking to control but Bolognesi is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Bolognesi is trying to get back to his feet but can't. Carlos stands up from mount. Strange move. Carlos misses with a takedown and Bolognesi counters with a shoot takedown. Carlos fights it but they end up in guard. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Bolognesi controlling from the guard. Carlos escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Bolognesi gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Carlos is trying to control the position but Bolognesi postures up. Carlos lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Bolognesi! Bolognesi wants to get back to his feet.
Joao Carlos has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Roberto Bolognesi is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Carlos looking to finish with strikes here!
