The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Chris Downing and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Monson scores with a takedown into Chavez's guard.
Monson slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Monson moves into full mount!
Chavez is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Monson takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Monson has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Chavez's face.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Monson is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Chavez is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Chavez flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Monson anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Chavez and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Monson slips an arm under Chavez chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Monson has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Monson is squeezing on Chavez like an anaconda would it's prey. Chavez fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!
