Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Paul Steele (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Scotty Nguyen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Frank Dennis and Daniel Franklin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nguyen lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Steele looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Nguyen closes the distance and clinches.
Steele tries to pull guard but Nguyen holds him up against the cage and eventually Steele drops back down to his feet.

Nguyen gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Nguyen is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Steele is just riding it out for now. Nguyen eventually gives up the hold.
Nguyen wants to pass the guard but Steele is defending well.

Nguyen is looking for a kimura here.

Steele wants to improve his position but Nguyen is controlling well.

Nguyen tries to pass the half guard into mount. Steele knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nguyen wants to control the pace but Steele is squirming around nicely.
Steele tries to lock up and control but Nguyen gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Nguyen scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Steele tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Nguyen wants to finish this one by submission but Steele is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Nguyen.

Nguyen has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Steele has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Nguyen throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Nguyen controlling the position well here. Steele rolled but Nguyen kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Can Steele hold on?! Nguyen is landing more strikes to his hapless foe.
Will Nguyen go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Nguyen is cranking Steele's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Steele! He's tightened the choke and Steele is tapping out!
