Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Katashi Fujioka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniel Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alves has chosen Tropa de Elite as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Katashi Fujioka!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Daniel Alves!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Taro Takaoka and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alves ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Fujioka moves away.
Alves throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Fujioka throws a sloppy head kick
and Alves counters with a big head kick but Fujioka shrugs it off.
Alves tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Alves throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Fujioka looks to land a combination but Alves avoids it well.
Alves misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Fujioka shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Alves manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Fujioka tries to free his leg and advance position but Alves is retaining full guard.
Fujioka slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Alves preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Fujioka controls from within his opponent's guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Fujioka loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Alves looking to hit a scissor sweep but Fujioka is one step ahead there.
Fujioka's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Fujioka has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Katashi Fujioka wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Alves lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

and Alves counters by clinching up.
Fujioka has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Fujioka avoiding damage as Alves throws knees to the body.
Fujioka jumps guard but Alves stands there with Fujioka around his waist. Fujioka gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Alves has picked Fujioka up - he's going for a ride! Alves dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Fujioka is looking to control Alves's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Fujioka avoid being mounted?

Alves trying to control the position from guard on top but Fujioka is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Fujioka lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Alves!
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Fujioka cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!


It looks like Daniel Alves has been cut.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fujioka with the ground and pound from mount.
Alves is wriggling around trying to escape.
Fujioka lands a big elbow.

Fujioka looking for a guillotine from mount but Alves is having none of it.
Alves is trying desperately to improve position.
Alves looks gassed!

Fujioka takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Fujioka lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Daniel Alves's cut.
That's time! Fujioka's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Fujioka throws a sloppy head kick and Alves moves out of range easily.

and Alves counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Fujioka will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Alves takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Alves tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Fujioka paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Katashi Fujioka seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Alves throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Fujioka leaves Alves with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

and Alves counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Fujioka tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Alves smiles and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Katashi Fujioka. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Fujioka shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Fujioka was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

BOOM! Fujioka connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Fujioka throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Alves has his hands clasped together but Fujioka breaks the hold and Alves is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Fujioka!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:39 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Katashi Fujioka!
