PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Erick Cartman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Canner Row (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Cartman might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to AC/DC - TNT. Erick Cartman has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Erick Cartman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Canner Row!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Jonathan Paton and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Row wants to clinch.
Cartman looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Row fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Cartman sprawls well initially but Row persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Row wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cartman keeps working.

Row stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Cartman ducks under a wild hook from Row.

Row drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Row distracts Cartman with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Row in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Row trying to control the position from guard on top but Cartman is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Row's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Let's hope that Row has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Canner Row wasn't active enough on the ground.
Row fails in his attempt to clinch.
Canner Row seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Row feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Cartman sprawling to the canvas! Cartman rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Row finish him?!


Cartman is rocked!


It looks like Erick Cartman has been cut.
Row doesn't manage to clinch there - Cartman circles away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Row shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Row showed some decent athleticism there.
Oh Cartman is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Row stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Cartman seems to have got his legs back now.
Row tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Cartman swivels and escapes.
Row looks to land a left hand but Cartman moved out of range nicely.
Row misses with a low kick.
Row connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Row tries to clinch but Cartman is having none of it.
Row is looking to clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Row misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Cartman keeps the fight on the outside.
Row misses with a straight right.
Row wants to clinch.
Row lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Cartman circles away quickly and effectively.
Row closes the distance and clinches up with Cartman, looking for a takedown. Row pushes Cartman against the cage but Cartman circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Erick Cartman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Canner Row.
Cartman tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Row swivels and escapes.
Cartman ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Row lands a jab-cross combination.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Row lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

Row shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Cartman tries to kick Row off in order to stand up. Row Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
A lull in the action here as Row stalls from top position.
Cartman is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Row asserts his dominance and retains side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Canner Row dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Erick Cartman's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Row slaps away a takedown attempt from Cartman, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Row tries to clinch but Cartman is having none of it.
Cartman slips a straight right by Row.

Cartman gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Row to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Row must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Row distracts Cartman with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Row works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Row is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Row seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Row looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Row in particular looking to stall.

Cartman is trying to stand up here but Row is controlling him well.

Cartman is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Row scores with a couple of nice shots.
Row seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Cartman has hold of Row's hands but Row slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Row slows the pace down in half guard.
Row is trying to control the action in half guard but Cartman is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Row looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Cartman with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Row looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Cartman manages to escape and get back to his feet!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
A jab from Row misses.
The fighters circling - Row throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Cartman keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Cartman closes the distance and pushes Row back into the cage.

Row turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Cartman is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

Row decides to stand back up.
Row throws a head kick but Cartman moves out of range.
Row tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Cartman was well out of range. Poor timing from Row.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Canner Row showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Erick Cartman's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Row waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Cartman.
Row tries to clinch

so Cartman counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Row is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Row landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Row lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Row is trying to control the action in half guard but Cartman is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Row throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Row decides to return to a standing position.
Row throws a series of strikes that have Cartman backpedaling.
Row throws an overhand right that lands on Cartman's shoulder, as Cartman tries to avoid the shot.
Nice defenses there by Cartman.
Cartman slips a straight right by Row.
Row tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Cartman counters with a takedown into side control.
Row struggling a bit here.

Cartman tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Cartman has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Cartman is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Row knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Cartman creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Row sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Cartman goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Row rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Cartman's guard! Nice work there by Row!

Row working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Row passes into half guard.

Row stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Row misses with a takedown attempt

and Cartman counters with a single leg into guard. Row didn't expect that.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Row looking to hit a scissor sweep but Cartman is one step ahead there.
Cartman wants to control from the top but Row keeps moving.

Row working for a triangle but Cartman defends it easily.
Cartman pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Row is keeping the position for now.
Erick Cartman has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Cartman drops back looking for a leg! Row is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Row manages to kick Cartman off! Cartman jumps back into Row's guard.
Canner Row is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Row utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

And that's the end of the fight!
Erick Cartman showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Row has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
