Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Chris Connely (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fred Ettish (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ettish has chosen Karate Kid Theme as his entrance music. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chris Connely!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Fred Ettish!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Stewart Dunkirk and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Connely steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Ettish. That one must have hurt.
Connely takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Ettish misses with a low kick.
Connely walks forward, straight into a front kick from Ettish.
Ettish looks for the body kick but Connely saw that one coming.
A right-left combo lands from Connely.
The fighters circling - Connely throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Some bone on bone action there as Connely checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Ettish scoring well with a low kick there.
Ettish misses with a double jab.
Ettish changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ettish throws a half hearted mid kick.

Ettish tries to work over Connely's front leg with a kick but Connely checks it.
A solid leg kick lands there for Ettish.

Donk. Ettish catches Connely right on the button with a cross.
Ettish bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Connely's head.
Fred Ettish is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Connely throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Ettish tries a head kick but it misses.
Connely rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Ettish moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Connely, as that shot connected.

and Connely decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Ettish's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Connely drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Ettish dives on top into guard.

Connely closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Ettish did well to prevent Connely getting side control.

Ettish feints and then cracks Connely's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Connely down.

Ettish will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Ettish utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Connely stands up over Ettish, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Connely's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Ettish misses with the body kick

and Connely counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Ettish!
Connely has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Poor strikes thrown by Connely there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Ettish wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Connely.

and Connely counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Connely wants to control from the top but Ettish keeps moving.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Connely accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Connely not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Connely throws a strike but Ettish rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Connely is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Ettish stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Connely swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Ettish must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Connely connects with a good right hand that stumbles Ettish. Ettish circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Fred Ettish seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Connely takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
