PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Emsiferun Lorghth (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Killer Machine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lorghth comes to the cage accompanied by behold the horned king. Killer Machine will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Emsiferun Lorghth!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Killer Machine!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Marco Blurström and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lorghth avoids a punch combination nicely.
Lorghth looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Lorghth tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Machine paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Lorghth displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Machine.
Machine will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Lorghth leaves Machine with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Emsiferun Lorghth has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Killer Machine.
Machine circles away from the clinch attempt.
Lorghth takes a kick to the side of the head.

Machine closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Lorghth did well to prevent Machine getting side control.
Lorghth is trying to stand.

Machine is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lorghth looks like he's trying to stand up.
Machine trying to control the pace.

Machine looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Lorghth with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Machine postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Lorghth to stand up.
Lorghth avoids the head kick by Machine.
Emsiferun Lorghth is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Lorghth leaves Machine with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Machine fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Lorghth moves in looking to clinch but Machine pushes him off.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Machine throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Machine.
Lorghth is pushing Machine's head away, looking to escape. Machine manages to hold on to the position though.
Lorghth gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

Lorghth bucks up and throws Machine to the side - he's got back to his feet. Great escape!
Lorghth fails with an attempt to clinch.
Machine shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Lorghth sprawls well. Lorghth wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Machine gets slowly back to his feet.
Lorghth defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Machine.
The fight stays on the outside here - Lorghth looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Lorghth moves into the clinch.

Machine is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Lorghth can't fight it off and eventually Machine manages to take the fight to the floor. Lorghth looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Machine is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Machine tries to free his leg and advance position but Lorghth is retaining full guard.
Machine is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Machine's corner is telling him to maintain position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Machine postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Lorghth is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Machine, into his guard.
Machine looking to control.
Machine has a closed guard, preventing Lorghth from standing up.
Machine manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Lorghth manages to get himself to full guard.
Lorghth wants to stand and escape but Machine is having none of it.
Machine working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Lorghth's head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Killer Machine dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Machine misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Emsiferun Lorghth is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Machine closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Lorghth did well to prevent Machine getting side control.
Machine performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Lorghth tries to kick Machine off in order to stand up. Machine Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.

Machine stands up and beckons Lorghth to his feet.
Lorghth doesn't manage to clinch there - Machine circles away.
Machine goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Machine moves into the clinch.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Lorghth tries to pull guard but Machine won't allow it.
A nice right hand lands inside from Machine.

Machine has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Lorghth is trying to keep an underhook but Machine manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Machine trying to control the pace.
Machine is keen to just control but Lorghth is a slippery customer.

Machine is working for a kimura but Lorghth is defending it quite comfortably.
Lorghth tries to kick Machine off but Machine keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Machine works his foot free and advances to mount.
Machine controlling from mount.

Machine looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Machine takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Lorghth is trying to stand.

Machine tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Machine landing punches.
Machine is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Machine working for a guillotine from mount but Lorghth is in no mood to give up.
Machine is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Lorghth can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Machine dominating with strikes here.
Machine lands with some strikes.
Lorghth is trying to stand but he's just given Machine his back.
Lorghth looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands.

Machine scores with punches and elbows.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Machine has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Lorghth's body.
Lorghth trying to get back to his feet but Machine is in full control for now.
Machine has good solid back control here.
Lorghth holding both Machine 's hands and preventing any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Killer Machine showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Machine fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Lorghth looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Machine dives in and grabs Lorghth's left leg, looking for a takedown. Lorghth pushes down on Machine's head and hops out.

Machine looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Lorghth wants to get back to his feet but Machine is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Machine pushing down on Lorghth's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

Machine is working for a kimura but Lorghth is defending it quite comfortably.
Machine trying to control the pace.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Machine takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Killer Machine has got the better of the ground game so far.
Lorghth tries to kick Machine off in order to stand up. Machine Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Machine advances to full mount.
Machine won't let Lorghth get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
Machine sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Machine lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Lorghth trying desperately to get to his feet.
Machine takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Machine fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Lorghth tries to buck Machine off but he can't manage it.

Machine takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Machine's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Machine landing strikes, looking to finish!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Lorghth is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Lorghth trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

Machine goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Lorghth is on top in guard.

Machine has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Lorghth off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Lorghth clinches but Machine breaks the clinch
and Machine counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Lorghth wants to clinch but Machine slips to the side

and Machine counters with a nice double leg into side control. Lorghth won't be happy with that.
Machine is looking to take a break and control but Lorghth is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Emsiferun Lorghth has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Killer Machine is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Machine is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Killer Machine comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Machine has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
