Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between BamBam Rubble (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rip James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rubble comes into the arena with Eruption blaring out of the sound system. James has chosen What's the difference as his entrance music. Rip James told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, BamBam Rubble! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
24 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rip James! The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Yukihiro Yamamoto.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rubble throws a body kick that misses. Rubble misses with a head kick.
A jab from James misses. Rubble misses with an attempted mid kick.
Rubble tries a low kick but James avoids it. James fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Rubble on the side of the head. BamBam Rubble seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Rubble tries a low kick but James avoids it. James blocks a head kick by Rubble.
James moves out of range of the body kick from Rubble.
James throws a head kick that misses. James shoots in looking for a takedown. Rubble tries to sprawl out of it but James keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Rubble manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Rubble throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. James moves out of range of the leg kick from Rubble.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rubble fakes high and swings low for a body shot but James manages to avoid it. Rubble lands with a kick to the temple. James shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" A big left from James misses. Rubble throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena. James avoids the body shot from Rubble.

Rubble takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. This has been an exciting period of action! Rubble slips under a jab. James misses the shot to the body. Rubble throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
BamBam Rubble is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Rubble pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Rubble gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows James to score an easy takedown into full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. James stops Rubble from standing up. James looking to control the position here, rather than advance. James drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and James jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. James is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. James has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. James postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. James scoring with some ground and pound. Rubble is breathing heavily. James cracks Rubble with a solid left hand. James passes into half guard. Rubble is trying to stand.
Rubble on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. James lands with a punch from half guard. James lands strikes from half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. James connects with a nice short shot to Rubble's temple. James scores with a couple of good hammerfists. James lands strikes from half guard. Rubble knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for James on the ground. James uses his free foot to push down on Rubble's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Rubble. James putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! James unloading with bombs!
Rubble is rocked! Rubble has left one of his arms exposed and James doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Rubble screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Rip James!
