Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Grimlock Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robert Mongo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Jones might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Wu Tang Clan - Method Man. Mongo has chosen Blitzkrieg Bop as his entrance music. Grimlock Jones has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mongo uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Jones.
Mongo is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Mongo is looking to land body kicks. Jones swings for the body but Mongo moves out of range.
Jones checks a low kick from Mongo. Mongo feints and then cracks Jones's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Jones down. Jones misses the shot to the body. Jones lands with a nice combination. Mongo backs away looking to recover. Mongo misses with a head kick.
Mongo throws a chopping leg kick but Jones manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Mongo pivots, looking for a leg kick but Jones is out of range and Mongo settles back down. Jones throws a body punch but Mongo moves out of range. Mongo tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Jones paws at him with a jab and circles away. Mongo scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Robert Mongo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Mongo misses with a low kick as Jones jumps back. Mongo throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. Mongo looks for the body kick but Jones saw that one coming. Mongo fails with an attempt to clinch.
Jones throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones thows a left - swing and a miss! Jones thows a body shot but no joy. Jones throws out a leg kick but Mongo moves out of range and Jones only half commits. Jones attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. Mongo buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Mongo misses with a leg kick enabling Jones to counter with a crisp jab. Mongo throws a head kick that misses. Mongo fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Jones is out of range. Mongo takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Mongo throws a leg kick and Jones counters with a shoot takedown. Mongo fights it but they end up in guard. Mongo looking to hit a scissor sweep but Jones is one step ahead there. Jones sitting in guard, not really doing much. Mongo is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jones postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jones accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Jones wants to control from the top but Mongo keeps moving. Jones drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Jones jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Jones looking to pass the guard. Jones controls from within his opponent's guard. Jones scoring with some ground and pound.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Jones not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Jones preventing the sweep. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Jones in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Jones distracts Mongo with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Jones not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Jones scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Jones won't allow Mongo to sweep him here. Jones is looking to work some ground and pound but Mongo has wrist control. Mongo wants to sweep here but Jones controlling him for the moment. Jones tries to free his leg and advance position but Mongo is retaining full guard. Jones thows a big elbow that misses. Jones trying to control the position from guard on top but Mongo is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Jones engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Mongo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jones. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Mongo looking to hit a scissor sweep but Jones is one step ahead there. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Grimlock Jones dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Mongo throws a leg kick and Jones counters with a takedown into side control. Jones is looking to take a break and control but Mongo is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Mongo avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Jones. Mongo is looking for a sweep. Jones working away. Mongo is trying to improve his position. Jones scores with a couple of short elbows. Jones wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mongo keeps working.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mongo can't do much from the bottom here. Sloppy strikes there by Jones. Jones controlling the position. Mongo is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Jones asserts his dominance and retains side control. A lull in the action here as Jones stalls from top position. Jones is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Mongo is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Jones working the head and body with strikes. Jones takes a little break here. Mongo wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones trying to control the position but Mongo is working away. Jones throwing shots but missing, from side control. Jones lands a decent elbow from side control. Jones is working Mongo over with some ground and pound from side control. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Mongo can do anything to dispel that myth. Mongo tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Jones wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Jones trying to control the action but Mongo is working from the bottom. Jones working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Mongo is looking for a sweep. Jones working the head with strikes. Mongo is not content to let Jones control the position. Mongo is trying to escape the position but Jones is controlling the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Grimlock Jones dominated that second round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! And we move into the final round!
Jones fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Jones shoots in and drives through. Mongo sprawls well. Jones is looking to wear down Mongo with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. Mongo throws a leg kick that is checked and Jones counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Jones. Jones trying to control the position from guard on top but Mongo is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Mongo is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Jones stays in close to Mongo's body and controls the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
We're going to have a standup here because Grimlock Jones wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Mongo has managed to clinch.
Mongo gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. Mongo putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Jones in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body. Jones holding his opponent close, against the cage.
Jones tightens his grip and picks Mongo up, before dumping him to the ground. Mongo manages to land in guard. Jones wants to control from the top but Mongo keeps moving. Grimlock Jones overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Jones throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Jones trying to control but Mongo is working from the bottom. Mongo is trying to control the position from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jones slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Mongo keeping moving, preventing Jones from controlling successfully.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Grimlock Jones just wasn't active enough. A head kick by Mongo misses and Mongo takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Jones fails with the takedown. Jones misses with a body shot.
Mongo clinches but Jones breaks the clinch and Jones counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Mongo tries to clinch but fails miserably letting Jones counter with a right hand. Jones shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Mongo but Mongo pushes him off and we're back to square one. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Grimlock Jones. That's going to take a lot out of him. Mongo misses with a leg kick and Jones counters with a stiff right hand.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mongo throws a sloppy head kick and Jones moves out of range easily. Jones lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Jones will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Jones wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Jones changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Mongo wants to clinch and Jones counters with a left and a right that stings Mongo. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Mongo scores with a leg kick.
Mongo closes the distance but Jones moves to the side and Jones counters with a stiff right hand. Nice defenses there by Mongo. Mongo tries to clinch but Jones is having none of it. Jones swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Mongo tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Jones counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mongo throws a leg kick and Jones counters with a straight right hand. Mongo throws a low kick, looking for Jones's leg but Jones calmly moves out of range. Mongo tries to clinch there but Jones circles away.
A low kick from Mongo is predictable there and Jones connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Jones tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Mongo was well out of range. Poor timing from Jones. Robert Mongo has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Robert Mongo is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Mongo throws a half hearted mid kick. Jones misses with a hook. A chopping leg kick lands by Mongo. Mongo looks to clinch and Jones counters with a nice body shot. Mongo lands a nice leg kick that just misses Jones's sensitive parts. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Jones scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Mongo throws a leg kick that is checked and Jones counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. A solid leg kick lands there for Mongo.
Jones throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Mongo stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
And that's the end of the fight! Grimlock Jones showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Jones, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
