Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Jim Jones! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Carl Eggson! The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Sam Margolis and Chris Edwards.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones misses with a takedown attempt - Eggson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Eggson lands with a thumping leg kick.
Jones throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Eggson. Jones throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Eggson instigates a clinch. Eggson jumps guard and drags Jones to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Eggson wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Eggson keeping moving, preventing Jones from controlling successfully. Eggson is pulling down on Jones's head. It's preventing any offense from Jones, at least for the moment.
That's one minute gone in the round. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Eggson darts in and clinches Jones up against the cage. Eggson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Jones tries to score a power double leg takedown but Eggson sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Jones somewhat. Eggson shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Jones is trying to defend but Eggson finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Eggson postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Jones to stand up. Eggson scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Eggson trying to control the pace.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Let's hope that Eggson has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Eggson decides to stand and escape the position. Eggson clinches up with Jones and pushes him back against the cage. Eggson breaks from the clinch.
Eggson shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Jones is breathing heavily. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Eggson stands up from Jones's guard - Eggson perhaps looking for a knockout. Jones gets caught flat footed, as Eggson shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Eggson sitting in guard here, content to control. Eggson pushing down on Jones's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Eggson seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Eggson connects with a nice short shot to Jones's temple. Eggson slips a nice elbow through Jones's hands, connecting with Jones's forehead.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Eggson takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Eggson passes to full mount! Eggson controlling his opponent. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Carl Eggson dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Jones misses with a wild combination.
Jones shoots and misses and Eggson counters with a takedown into side control. Eggson works to advance to full mount. Jones defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. Eggson controlling from mount. Jones looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back! Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Eggson controlling from the back.
That's one minute gone in the round. Eggson sinks in the hooks and is looking for the choke. He's got it! Jones taps out!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:44 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Carl Eggson!
