Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Marco Ruas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Nathan Bloodstone!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Fedor Mirinova and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ruas misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Ruas closes the distance and clinches up with Bloodstone, looking for a takedown. Ruas pushes Bloodstone against the cage but Bloodstone circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Marco Ruas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ruas misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Bloodstone would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Ruas manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Bloodstone manages to get himself to full guard.
Bloodstone is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Ruas shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Bloodstone counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Ruas's guard now.
Ruas is breathing heavily.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ruas working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Bloodstone doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Bloodstone manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Bloodstone must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Bloodstone won't allow Ruas to sweep him here.

Bloodstone thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Ruas tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Bloodstone gets to his feet. Ruas looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Ruas fails with the takedown

and Bloodstone counters with a nice double leg into guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Marco Ruas. That's going to take a lot out of him.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Bloodstone is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Bloodstone really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ruas. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Bloodstone is posturing up here but Ruas has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Bloodstone tries to roll out but it's too tight and Bloodstone has to tap! Slick submission there by Ruas!
