PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jim Brown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Jordan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jim Brown!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jason Jordan!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and .




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brown thuds a left hand into Jordan's body.
Jordan dives in and grabs Brown's left leg, looking for a takedown. Brown pushes down on Jordan's head and hops out.
Jordan shoots in for a takedown but Brown shows good takedown defense.
Jordan changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Brown tries to avoid it but Jordan manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Brown to the ground. Brown escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Jim Brown has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jason Jordan.
Brown's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Brown duly obliges.
Brown stuns Jordan with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Jordan looks for a takedown but Brown sprawls well.

Brown forces Jordan back against the cage and clinches.

Brown escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Brown gets caught flat footed, as Jordan shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Jordan looks gassed!
Brown trying to keep a closed guard but Jordan is proving a slippery customer.
Brown has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Jordan wants to stand but Brown is controlling his posture from full guard.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Brown looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

We're going to have a standup here because Jim Brown wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Brown clinches up with Jordan and pushes him back against the cage.
Jordan looks to throw an elbow but misses.

Brown pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Jordan takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Brown.
Brown with the ground and pound but Jordan regains half guard under the barage of strikes.

Jordan is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Brown is looking to work some ground and pound but Jordan has wrist control.

Jordan stands and steps away. Brown gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Jordan keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Brown shoots in and gets a takedown into Jordan's guard.
Jordan wants to stand and escape but Brown is having none of it.
Brown throwing strikes but missing.
Jordan bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Brown's guard.
Brown looking to hit a scissor sweep but Jordan is one step ahead there.

Brown with a flurry of punches that miss.
Brown has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Jordan seems keen to control Brown's posture.
Jordan controls Brown momentarily but Brown frees himself.
Jordan is adopting a defensive guard.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Jason Jordan hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Jordan tries for a takedown but Brown circles away easily
and Brown counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.

Brown gets the takedown into side control.
Brown tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Brown postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Brown throws an elbow but Jordan slips to the side and avoids it well.
Brown is chipping away with strikes.
Jordan manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Jordan avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Brown.
Jim Brown overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Brown with the ground and pound but Jordan uses the opportunity to regain guard.
Brown throws and elbow that misses. Jordan uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Brown's guard. Nice move by Jordan!
Brown controls Jordan momentarily but Jordan frees himself.

Jordan stopping the sweep attempt from Brown.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Brown wants to improve his position but instead Jordan has moved into half guard.

Jordan wants to stand but Brown has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Jordan is thwarting Brown's attempts to control the position.
Jordan tries to stand but can't do so whilst Brown controls his leg.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

and Brown counters with a one-two to the body.

Brown throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Jordan was covering up waiting for the punch and Brown finishes the takedown easily into guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

and Brown counters with a straight right hand.
Jordan takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Brown lands a right hook to the body.

Jordan shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Brown counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Jordan!

Jordan wants to control but Brown is having none of it.
Brown lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Jordan wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Brown.

Brown sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Brown is working for a kimura but Jordan is defending it quite comfortably.
Jordan wants to control but Brown is keeping busy.
Jim Brown is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Brown perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Jordan is refusing to be controlled, as Brown sits in half guard.
Jason Jordan has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Well Brown has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
