Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jack Thomas! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, BJ Penn! The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Dillan Fox and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Penn throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Thomas uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Penn.

Thomas forces Penn back against the cage and clinches. Thomas tightens his grip and picks Penn up, before dumping him to the ground. Penn manages to land in guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Thomas got a little sloppy there for a moment and Penn has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Thomas has managed to get both his arms back between Penn's legs - danger averted. Thomas slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Penn tries to improve position but can't. Thomas is putting a hurting on Penn here, landing some big shots from side control. Thomas wants to control but Penn is keeping him busy. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Thomas tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Thomas has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Penn is looking to regain half guard here but Thomas keeps moving and retains side control. Thomas is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Penn knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Penn gets back to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Thomas tries to pass the half guard into mount. Penn knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Thomas moves into full mount! Penn won't be happy about that! The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Thomas cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Thomas is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Penn is in real trouble.
Thomas looking for the RNC. Thomas working for a choke but Penn is defending well. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! You can see the frustration on Penn's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Penn is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Thomas gets his way!
Thomas has the hooks in. Penn is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. Penn is trying to defend against the choke here but Thomas has an arm under his chin. This one might not last much longer. Thomas Tightens the hold and Penn taps out furiously! Thomas displays superior BJJ to win the fight.
