PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Stephen Anatomy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Cena (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cena has chosen My Time is Now By Tha Trademark And John Cena as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cena keeps the fight on the outside.
Nice shot lands for Cena.
Anatomy wants to clinch up but Cena keeps it at a distance.
Cena closes the distance and clinches up with Anatomy, looking for a takedown. Cena pushes Anatomy against the cage but Anatomy circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Cena circles away from the clinch attempt.
Anatomy missing with a left hand there. Cena was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Cena misses with a body kick.
Anatomy tries to clinch but Cena moves out of range.
Cena should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Cena throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Cena avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Cena is looking to score with low kicks.
Cena fails with the takedown.

Cena shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Anatomy's guard.

Anatomy wants to sweep but no luck.
Anatomy is working hard here to advance position.
Cena wanted to stand there but Anatomy had control of the position.
Anatomy is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Cena tries to free his leg and advance position but Anatomy is retaining full guard.
Anatomy bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Cena's guard.
Cena looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Anatomy trying to control but Cena is working from the bottom.

Anatomy drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Cena manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Anatomy has Cena in his guard.

Cena drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Anatomy dives on top into guard.

Anatomy drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Anatomy jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Cena can do anything to dispel that myth.

Anatomy thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Cena wants to get back to his feet but Anatomy is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Anatomy trying to control the position from guard on top but Cena is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Anatomy got a little sloppy there for a moment and Cena has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Anatomy has managed to get both his arms back between Cena's legs - danger averted.
Anatomy will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Cena keeping moving, preventing Anatomy from controlling successfully.

Anatomy thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Anatomy trying to control but Cena is working from the bottom.

Anatomy stands and throws Cena's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Cena pushes Anatomy away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Anatomy gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Anatomy has gone for a leg lock! Cena slips out almost immediately though and dives into Anatomy's guard.
Cena really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Anatomy. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Stephen Anatomy.
Anatomy leaves Cena with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

and Anatomy counters with a nice body shot.

and Anatomy counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cena avoids the body shot from Anatomy.
Anatomy ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Cena moves away.

Anatomy fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Cena manages to avoid it.

Cena shoots in and bounces Anatomy off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Anatomy manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Anatomy is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Cena has managed to escape the submission attempt.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Anatomy is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Cena slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Stephen Anatomy has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
John Cena is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Anatomy is working an open guard so Cena takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

I would just about give that final round to John Cena.
Well Cena has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
