Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Joshua Artas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stormy Day (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Artas's entrance music is 21 guns. A fine choice. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joshua Artas! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Stormy Day! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Robert Twigg and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Day throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Day shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Artas as he avoids it easily. A momentary lapse in concentration from Artas enables Day to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Artas manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Artas preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Artas wants to sweep but no luck. Day throwing strikes but missing. Day loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Day trying to control the position from guard on top but Artas is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Artas preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. That's one minute gone in the round. Day is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Artas trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! Day is in close to Artas's body, working some short punches and elbows. Artas throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

Artas really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Artas manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

That's two minutes gone in the round. Day is bucking up trying to escape but Artas cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Artas lands a nice shot to the head. Artas postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Day looks a forlorn figure.
Artas controlling from the full mount. Day wants to control but Artas is having none of it. Day looks gassed! Day bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! We're going to have a standup here because Joshua Artas wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Nice takedown defense from Day. No joy for Artas on that attempt. Artas shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Day counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Artas's guard now. Artas tries to strike from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Day lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Artas looking to hit a scissor sweep but Day is one step ahead there. Day scoring with some ground and pound. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Artas tries to land a sweep but no joy. Stormy Day dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Day rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Artas moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Artas shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Day but Day pushes him off and we're back to square one. Nice sprawl there from Day as Artas shoots in. Day swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Day closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Artas quickly recovers to half guard. Artas is looking to improve his position.

Artas is staying active underneath Day, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Day might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Artas kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Day sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Artas defending well though. Stormy Day has got the better of the ground game so far. Day prevents Artas from improving his position. Day looks to land a strike but Artas avoids it nicely and regains full guard. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Artas is on top in guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Artas prevents Day from getting back to his feet. At least for now.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Day closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Day lands an elbow. Day working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Day tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Day has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Artas manages to work his way to half guard, despite Day's best efforts. Artas avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Day. Day should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Day wants to get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Day wants to control from the top but Artas keeps moving. Artas working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Day. Day postures up.

Artas will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. A nice elbow there by Artas. Artas working Day over with strikes here. Artas can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Day is looking to escape. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Day can do anything to dispel that myth. Artas is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Day is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

And that's the end of the fight! Joshua Artas showed his dominance in that final round. Well Day has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
