Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Leo Jay! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alex Lebedev! The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Aleksandr Martynov and Fedor Mirinova.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lebedev throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jay's waist but Jay gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Lebedev off to one side. Jay tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Lebedev paws at him with a jab and circles away. Lebedev closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Jay did well to prevent Lebedev getting side control. Lebedev throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Lebedev thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Jay's head. Lebedev seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Jay does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Jay blocking the ground and pound attempt from Lebedev. Lebedev thows a huge punch but Jay dodges it nicely.
Lebedev misses with a head shot. Jay uses the momentum to regain guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Lebedev throws a strike but Jay rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Lebedev has a closed guard, preventing Jay from standing up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jay prevents Lebedev from getting back to his feet. Jay is looking to stand up but Lebedev won't let him. Lebedev wants to get back to his feet but Jay is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Jay has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Lebedev is proving hard to escape from. Jay stands and steps away. Lebedev gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Lebedev closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Jay keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Jay has hold of Lebedev's hands but Lebedev slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Jay blocking the ground and pound attempt from Lebedev. Lebedev not landing any meaningful shots this time. Lebedev not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Jay is trying to stand back up but Lebedev is controlling him

Jay is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Lebedev is controlling him well. Lebedev tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lebedev sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Jay is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Lebedev misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Lebedev postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Jay wants to get back to his feet. Jay is not content to let Lebedev control the position. Lebedev scoring with punches from side control. Lebedev grinds an elbow into Jay's temple. Lebedev working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Lebedev tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Lebedev in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Lebedev lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Lebedev tries to move to mount but Jay blocks the move with his legs. Jay sneaks out the side door and pushes Lebedev away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape. Jay gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Lebedev to score an easy takedown into full guard. Jay wriggles free and stands up. Lebedev is looking to clinch but Jay is avoiding it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Alex Lebedev dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Lebedev closes this distance looking for a takedown but Jay circles away. Jay with a lazy takedown attempt and Lebedev counters with a single leg into guard. Jay didn't expect that. Lebedev working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Jay is looking to stand back up but Lebedev counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Jay. Lebedev is just content to waste time from the top position. Jay takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. Jay wriggles free and stands up. Lebedev shoots and misses and Jay counters with a series of strikes. Lebedev will be more careful next time no doubt. Lebedev with a poor takedown and Jay counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Leo Jay has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alex Lebedev.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Lebedev tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Jay manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Lebedev looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Lebedev sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Jay defending well though. Lebedev is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Jay tries to kick Lebedev off but Lebedev keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Lebedev missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Lebedev seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Ground and pound from Lebedev.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jay pushes Lebedev off looking to stand but Lebedev dives back in and keeps control.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Lebedev doesn't succeed with the takedown and Jay counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Lebedev! Jay trying to control but Lebedev is having none of it. Jay stands up from mount. Strange move. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Lebedev fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Jay sprawls well initially but Lebedev persists and gets the takedown into half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Leo Jay will probably get the nod. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!
