Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Poor Matt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Andre Winner!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Valeri Chadov and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Winner fails to land the takedown.
Winner bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Winner has a takedown stuffed.

Winner bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Winner tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Winner has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Matt tries to improve position but can't.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Winner tries for a kimura but Matt is defending well.
Matt manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Still in half guard, Matt seems content to control.

Matt takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Matt's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Matt content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Matt looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Winner with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Matt works his foot free and advances to mount.

Winner is in all sorts of trouble here.

Matt lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.


It looks like Andre Winner has been cut.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Winner gets back to half guard.

Winner is not content to let Matt control the position.
Matt prevents Winner from improving his position.
Matt lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Matt slips a nice elbow through Winner's hands, connecting with Winner's forehead.

Matt working over Winner with some ground and pound. Winner looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Winner is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Matt scores with a couple of nice shots.


That has opened up Andre Winner's cut even more.

Winner is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Matt pulls his head out easily.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Poor Matt dominated that round.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Winner looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Matt is fending him off so far but Winner persists. Nope, Matt circles away and we're back to standing.
Matt leaves Winner with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Winner changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Matt tries to avoid it but Winner manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Matt to the ground. Matt escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Poor Matt has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andre Winner.

Matt lands a big head kick that sends Winner tumbling to the mat! Matt takes a step backwards and waves Winner back to his feet - he wants the finish!


Winner is rocked!
Winner shoots for a takedown but Matt saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
A head kick by Matt - that's a beauty! Winner is out but he's somehow still standing... he's going... going... gone. Like a drunk walking down the middle of the road, the inevitable face plant follows and the delayed knockout arrives. Even Matt can't help but laugh at the bizarre end to this one!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:26 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Poor Matt!
