PBP Commentary

The crowd seem to be enjoying Stenner's choice of entrance music: Escapado - Gezeichnet. Ricardo Jackson is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ricardo Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, CJ Stenner!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Jorge Garcia and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson shoots in looking for a takedown. Stenner tries to sprawl out of it but Jackson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Stenner manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Jackson has Stenner up against the cage in a clinch.

Stenner's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Stenner avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Jackson fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Stenner sprawls well initially but Jackson persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Stenner is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Jackson pulls his head out easily.
Stenner is staying active underneath Jackson, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Jackson seems to be looking for submissions.
Jackson lands with a punch from half guard.
Jackson trying to control from half guard but Stenner is working away.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jackson tries to pass the half guard into mount. Stenner knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jackson is working hard here to advance position.
Jackson is looking to stall here but Stenner recovers full guard.
Stenner wants to get back to his feet but Jackson is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Jackson has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Jackson looking to sit in guard and control but Stenner gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Stenner with a nice head shot there.
Jackson lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Stenner!
Stenner wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.

Jackson goes for an armbar but Stenner turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Stenner.
Jackson is breathing heavily.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Stenner scoring with punches to the head and body.
Jackson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Stenner on the ground.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Stenner scoring with some ground and pound.
Stenner postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Jackson on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Jackson tries to get out of the position.
Stenner stands up over Jackson, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Stenner tries to stand but Jackson is controlling from the bottom.

Stenner drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Jackson manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Stenner has Jackson in his guard.

Stenner tries to land a sweep but no joy.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Jackson stands and steps away. Stenner gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Jackson shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Stenner is trying to defend but Jackson finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Stenner avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Jackson.
Jackson throwing shots but Stenner is blocking nicely.
Stenner slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Jackson postures up in Stenner's guard and throws a big left but Stenner blocks it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ricardo Jackson dominated that round.
That's time! Jackson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Stenner throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
No luck for Jackson with that takedown attempt.
A head kick misses from Jackson.
Stenner staying out of range there.
Stenner tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Jackson counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Jackson stalling away here and it's allowed Stenner to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Stenner pulls Jackson in close to prevent any damage.
Stenner working a defensive guard here.
Jackson won't allow Stenner to get back to his feet.
Jackson could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jackson looking to sit in guard and control but Stenner gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Stenner decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Jackson, up you get!
Jackson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Stenner swivels and escapes.
Stenner tries to close the distance and clinch up but Jackson swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Stenner shoots in and drives through. Jackson sprawls well.

Jackson gets a takedown into half guard.
Stenner is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Jackson scores with a couple of nice shots.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Stenner is kicking away at Jackson from the bottom - trying to push off and stand up. Jackson grabs hold of a leg and drops back for a hell hook! The two fighters roll across the mat, with Stenner trying to push Jackson off... Stenner taps! He's tapped! This one is all over! A throwback to the old Pancrase there with an infrequently seen submission hold! Nice work.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:25 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Heel Hook). Ricardo Jackson!
