Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Martin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kevin Hughes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Martin's entrance music is Got Money by Lil Wayne. A fine choice. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hughes avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Hughes is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Hughes drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Martin gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Martin bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Hughes can't do much from the bottom here.

Hughes is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Martin pulls his head out easily.
Hughes tries to roll over but Martin keeps him under control.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Martin blocks the strikes from Hughes.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Martin tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Martin looks to clinch
and Hughes counters by moving into the clinch.
Martin crunches a lovely knee into Hughes's ribcage.
Hughes has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Martin is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Hughes tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Martin smiles and moves away.
Martin forces Hughes back against the cage and clinches.
Hughes fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Ryan Martin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kevin Hughes.
Hughes wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Martin drags the fight down to the ground.

Hughes wants to stand but Martin is controlling his posture from full guard.
Hughes drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Martin dives on top into guard.
Hughes throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Martin escapes and throws Hughes's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Hughes is trying to work for a sweep but Martin has mounted him!
Hughes sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hughes is trying to maintain the position but Martin is very close to passing his half guard.
Hughes tries to get to full guard but Martin has control of the leg.
Hughes is not content to let Martin control the position.
Hughes wants to improve his position but Martin is controlling well.

Hughes has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Martin is working away from the top position though.
The fighters are battling for position here. Hughes manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

and Martin moves into the clinch.
Hughes changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Martin fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Hughes tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!
Hughes changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Martin tries to avoid it but Hughes manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Martin to the ground. Martin escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Hughes throws a left and a right that both miss
and Martin counters with a big head kick but Hughes shrugs it off.
Hughes rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Martin moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

and Martin counters with a shoot takedown. Hughes fights it but they end up in guard.

Hughes had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Martin is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Hughes Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Martin's back instead.

Hughes wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Martin manages to pass to side control.

Hughes catches Martin with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Ryan Martin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Martin clinches but Hughes breaks the clinch
so Hughes counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!
Hughes wants to control from the top but Martin keeps moving.
Hughes wants to pass the guard but Martin is keeping the position.
Hughes stays in close to Martin's body and controls the position.
Kevin Hughes has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
