Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mladen Orlov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Josh Koscheck! The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Valeri Chadov and Igor Prikhodko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A momentary lapse in concentration from Orlov enables Koscheck to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Orlov manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Koscheck is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Koscheck working some strikes from top position. Koscheck stops Orlov from standing up. Orlov trying to control the position.
Orlov is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Koscheck content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Koscheck slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Koscheck scoring with some ground and pound. Orlov knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Koscheck on the ground. Koscheck works over Orlov with some ground and pound from guard. Orlov really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Koscheck is in close to Orlov's body, working some short punches and elbows. Koscheck distracts Orlov with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Koscheck working some strikes from top position. Orlov is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Orlov is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Koscheck is controlling him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Koscheck is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Koscheck working some strikes from top position. Koscheck stopping the sweep attempt from Orlov. Koscheck lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Koscheck is looking to advance position but Orlov has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount! Koscheck keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Orlov pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Koscheck has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Koscheck slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Koscheck is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Orlov's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Orlov's back! Koscheck is throwing punches to the body, looking to soften Orlov up.
Orlov covers up after that shot from Koscheck.

Koscheck wants to control but Orlov is keeping busy. Koscheck connects with a big shot to the side of Orlov's head.
Koscheck is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Orlov defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Koscheck scores with a nice shot to the head of his opponent. Orlov is looking for a way out.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Orlov breaks Koscheck's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

Koscheck has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Orlov is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Orlov is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Koscheck.
