PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nico Parcon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Christoph Janetzky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Janetzky has chosen Escapado - Montgomery Mundtot as his entrance music. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nico Parcon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Christoph Janetzky!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Reed Andrews and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Parcon shoots for a takedown but Janetzky saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Janetzky leaves Parcon with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Parcon shoots in for a takedown but Janetzky shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nico Parcon. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Parcon fails to land the takedown.
Parcon fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Parcon gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Janetzky to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Janetzky trying to control the position from guard on top but Parcon is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Janetzky throws and elbow that misses. Parcon uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Janetzky's guard. Nice move by Parcon!

Parcon works over Janetzky with some ground and pound from guard.
Parcon postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Janetzky is on top in guard.
Janetzky is looking to work some ground and pound but Parcon has wrist control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Janetzky loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Janetzky wants to control from the top but Parcon keeps moving.
Parcon working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Janetzky.

Janetzky wants to stand but Parcon has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Parcon avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Parcon not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Parcon is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Janetzky defends well.

Janetzky stands up and waves to Parcon to follow him.
Janetzky misses with a kick to the body.

Parcon misses with a takedown

and Janetzky counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Parcon is defending against the submission attempts here by Janetzky.

Janetzky wants to stand up but Parcon has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Janetzky is just content to waste time from the top position. Parcon takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Christoph Janetzky dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Parcon doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Janetzky holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Janetzky tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Parcon tries for a takedown. No joy.
Janetzky lands an elbow inside that Parcon shrugs off.
Janetzky can't get the takedown.
Parcon has Janetzky pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Janetzky manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nico Parcon. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Janetzky is pressed up against the cage. Parcon has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Janetzky down to the mat. Janetzky avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
A head kick misses from Janetzky.
Parcon shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Janetzky counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Janetzky pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Parcon misses with a takedown attempt

and Janetzky counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Janetzky.
Janetzky throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Parcon works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Janetzky decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Parcon gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Janetzky counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Janetzky throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Janetzky is looking to advance position but Parcon has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Parcon scores with a couple of good head shots there.

Parcon has isolated one of Janetzky's arms. Janetzky looking to fight him off but Parcon twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!
