PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Peter Line (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Saint George (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Line comes to the cage accompanied by Human Cannonball. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Peter Line!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Saint George!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Saam Ante and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
George looks to land a combination but Line avoids it well.
George lands a jab to the nose.
George tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Line was well out of range. Poor timing from George.
Line swinging wildly here.
George uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Line.
Saint George seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Line misses the shot to the body.
Line lands a slapping body shot.
Line tried to score with a low kick but George checks it.
Line looks to land a left hand but George moved out of range nicely.
Line looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
George is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Line takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

George decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
George takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

George is trying to work for a kimura but Line is defending well.
Line landing rabbit punches to the side of George's head. Not doing much damage but still scoring a few points.

That's one minute gone in the round.
George trying to control from half guard but Line is working away.

Line is defending against the submission attempts here by George.
Line wants to improve his position but George is controlling well.

George is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Line doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time George.
George wants to free his trapped foot but Line is holding on for dear life with his legs.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Line is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but George pulls his head out easily.
George is stalling here. Line is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! George seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Line has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
George is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Line is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Line trying to control but George is having none of it.
Line controlling his opponent.

Line prevents George from getting the reversal.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
George in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
George tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Line lands a heavy elbow.
Line dominating with strikes here.
Line avoids the attempt from George to control.
Line lands a big elbow.
Line can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as George is looking to escape.

Line working away from the top, dropping strikes.
Line looking to finish George with some ground and pound. This is bad for George!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
George wants to hold on but Line pushes him away.
Line controlling from mount.
George is wriggling around trying to escape.
Line raining down hammerfists from mount.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Line controlling the position easily from mount.
Line prevents George from getting the reversal.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Line tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Line moves into range and connects with a jab.
Line misses with a wild body shot.
George has his takedown stuffed
and Line counters with a nice uppercut.

George scores with a takedown into Line's guard.
Line looking to hit a scissor sweep but George is one step ahead there.

George has gone for a leg lock! Line slips out almost immediately though and dives into George's guard.
George wants to sweep here but Line controlling him for the moment.

Line loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Line trying to control the position from guard on top but George is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Line slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Peter Line just wasn't active enough.
George keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Line tries to clinch but George moves out of range.
Line misses with a takedown attempt - George sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
George swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
George scores with a jab.
Saint George is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Line staying out of range there.

George throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Line was covering up waiting for the punch and George finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Peter Line overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Line keeping full guard, as George tries to pass.
Line tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Line trying to control the position.
George is looking to advance position but Line has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

George is squirming around, avoiding Line's attempts to control the action.
Line working away from the top, dropping strikes.
Line connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
George is looking to get to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Line wants to control the pace but George is squirming around nicely.
Line landing strikes, looking to finish!
Line trying to control but he's not successful this time.

George is wriggling around trying to escape.

Line has hold of George's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and George manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
George tries to reverse the position but Line maintains control.
George tries to hold on but Line postures up.
A nice elbow there by Line.
Line lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Peter Line dominated that second round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


George throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Line shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in George's guard.
Line wants to pass the guard but George is keeping the position.
George bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Line's guard.

Line is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and George defends well.
George tries to free his leg and advance position but Line is retaining full guard.

Line is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. George is aware though and is defending well.
Line wants to sweep but no luck.
George looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

That's one minute gone in the round.
George trying to control the position from guard on top but Line is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
George looking to sit in guard and control but Line gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
George is trying to hold Line in close to prevent damage but Line has managed to pass into half guard.
Line looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Saint George has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Line working the head and body with strikes.
Line not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Line trying to control the action but George is working from the bottom.
George is trying to control but can't.
George punching from the bottom.
Peter Line is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Line trying to control from half guard but George is working away.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
George is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Line wants to lay and pray for a moment but George keeps working.
George tries to roll over but Line keeps him under control.
Line not doing much here.

Peter Line has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
George ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from George is defended easily by Line.
Line throws a lazy right hand but George sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
George takes a body punch but keeps moving.
George tries for a takedown but Line circles away easily
and Line counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Line misses with a hook. George ducked under it nicely.
Line fakes high and swings low for a body shot but George manages to avoid it.
George misses with a hook.
Line lands with a straight right. George didn't see that one coming.
Line misses with a wild body shot.
Line tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but George paws at him with a jab and circles away.
George slips a jab from Line.
George connects with a crisp jab.
George swings away with a body shot that misses

and Line counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for George!
Line trying to control but George is having none of it.
Line controlling from mount.

And that's the end of the fight!
Peter Line showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Line has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
