PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jay Cari (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eric Shepperson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jay Cari!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Eric Shepperson!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cari drives through and clinches with Shepperson against the cage.
Cari gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Shepperson.
Shepperson changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Cari fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Cari gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Cari wants to stand but Shepperson is controlling the position.
Cari wants to sweep but no luck.
Cari manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Shepperson manages to get himself to full guard.

Cari drops back looking for a leg! Shepperson is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Shepperson manages to kick Cari off! Cari jumps back into Shepperson's guard.
Shepperson pulls Cari in close to his closed guard and prevents Cari from doing any damage or advancing position.

Cari decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Shepperson, up you get!
Shepperson looks gassed!
Cari doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Shepperson counters with a shoot takedown. Cari fights it but they end up in guard.

Cari is trying to keep Shepperson in close.

Cari has his feet on Shepperson's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Cari wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Cari is trying to control Shepperson's posture but Shepperson avoids it.

Cari really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Shepperson throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Shepperson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cari. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Shepperson sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Cari tries to reverse the position but Shepperson maintains control.
Shepperson avoids the attempt from Cari to control.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Eric Shepperson dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Shepperson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Cari controls Shepperson momentarily but Shepperson frees himself.

Cari will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Cari is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Cari scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Cari wants to lay and pray for a moment but Shepperson keeps working.

Cari has hold of Shepperson's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Shepperson seems comfortable defending it but Cari has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Shepperson is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Shepperson is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Cari couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:15 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Jay Cari!
