Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sergey Gribov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Magonn Morguss!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Ivan Kurochkin and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Morguss shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Gribov sprawls well. Gribov wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Morguss gets slowly back to his feet.
Gribov has his takedown stuffed

and Morguss counters with a single leg into guard. Gribov didn't expect that.

Gribov is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Morguss is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Gribov had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Morguss defends it easily.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Morguss sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Gribov's guard.
Morguss tries to pass to full mount but Gribov defends it.
Morguss wants to take a breather but Gribov is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gribov wants to control but Morguss is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Morguss is thwarting Gribov's attempts to control the position.
Morguss wants to take a breather but Gribov is having none of it.
Gribov is pressing down on Morguss's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Gribov pulls Morguss in close to prevent any damage.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Morguss shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Morguss showed some decent athleticism there.
Gribov wants to improve his position but Morguss is controlling well.
Gribov moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Morguss looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Gribov is looking to improve his position.
Morguss is trying to control. Gribov wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Morguss is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Gribov is trying to control but can't.

Gribov might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Gribov uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Morguss uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Gribov.
Gribov looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sergey Gribov. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Gribov closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Morguss seems a little lost for a moment, as Gribov dominates the positioning.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Gribov wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Morguss, who protects the arm well.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. And we move into the final round!


Gribov throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Morguss looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Gribov!

Morguss takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Morguss looking to control but Gribov is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Morguss goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Gribov turns into him and now he's in Morguss's guard.

Morguss isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Gribov stacks Morguss on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Gribov!
Magonn Morguss has got the better of the ground game so far.

Gribov thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Gribov is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Morguss has escaped the position, nice work there.
Morguss is letting Gribov control him for a moment.

Gribov tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Gribov has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Gribov is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Morguss is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Gribov is staying tight to Morguss's torso, preventing him from escaping.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Gribov tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Gribov has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

And that's the end of the fight!
Sergey Gribov showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Gribov has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
