Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Piolo Pascual! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joe Lason! The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Cecil Peabody and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lason shoots in for a takedown but Pascual shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Lason shoots in for a double leg but Pascual sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Lason fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Piolo Pascual has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joe Lason. Lason tries to clinch but Pascual moves out of range. Lason scores a takedown into full mount! Lason misses with a head shot. Lason controlling from mount. Lason landing strikes, looking to finish! Lason lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Pascual hang on? Pascual really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lason with a couple of short strikes. Pascual flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
Pascual is looking to improve his position but Lason isn't that keen on the idea. Lason avoids the attempt from Pascual to control. Pascual is in all sorts of trouble here.
Lason is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Pascual can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Lason content just to control the position here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lason landing strikes from the mount and Pascual is in trouble! Pascual wants to hold on but Lason pushes him away. Pascual takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Pascual taking shots to the head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lason with the ground and pound from mount. Pascual is breathing heavily. Lason content just to control the position here. Pascual is trying to escape the mount.
Lason raining down shots from the mount! Pascual is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Lason cracks Pascual with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lason working for a guillotine from mount but Pascual is in no mood to give up. Pascual wants to control but Lason is having none of it. Lason lands with some strikes. Lason controlling the pace for now. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pascual tries to sprawl but Lason drives through with a takedown into half guard. Lason is controlling the pace.
Pascual is looking for a sweep. Lason is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Joe Lason hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Lason darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Lason keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Lason lands with a punch from half guard. Lason controlling the action here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Pascual pushes Lason off looking to stand but Lason dives back in and keeps control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Lason stands up out of the half guard. Lason shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Pascual really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Lason content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Pascual pushes Lason off looking to stand but Lason dives back in and keeps control.

Lason sitting and controlling from the half guard. Pascual is trying to get back to full guard. Well, if Lason is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Joe Lason has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Lason fails with an attempt to clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Lason throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Pascual was covering up waiting for the punch and Lason finishes the takedown easily into guard. Lason controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Pascual is looking to stand up but Lason isn't so interested in that idea. Lason tries to free his leg and advance position but Pascual is retaining full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Joe Lason showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!
Lason ducks under a wild hook from Pascual. Lason shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Pascual manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Lason trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Lason is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Pascual not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Lason works a leg free and moves into half guard. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Lason decides to stand and escape the position. Lason closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Lason lands in his opponent's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lason forces his way into half guard. Pascual missing with punches from the bottom.
Well, if Lason is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Pascual is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Lason jumps into side control! Lason tries to advance to mount but can't. Joe Lason has got the better of the ground game so far. Lason landing a few strikes. Pascual tries to buck Lason off but Lason is having none of it. Lason decides to stand back up. Lason steps back and let's Pascual get back to his feet. Lason closes the distance and pushes Pascual back into the cage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lason misses with a hook to the ribs.
Lason is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Pascual's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Lason drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Pascual trying to control the position.
Pascual is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Lason is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Pascual working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Lason doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Lason manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Lason stands up and waves to Pascual to follow him.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lason changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Pascual looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Lason happy to just control the position for now. Pascual is trying to control Lason's posture but Lason avoids it. Pascual tries to improve position but can't.
And that's the end of the fight! Joe Lason comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Lason winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
