PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rip James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Doe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). James comes into the arena with The Ultimatum blaring out of the sound system. Doe has chosen whatsername, and does she remember my name? as his entrance music. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 35 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jon Doe!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Alan Glass and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James throws a looping overhand right but Doe ducks down to avoid it.
Doe scores with a push kick.
James wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
James throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Doe counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
James swings widly with a right hand
and Doe counters with a body kick that stops James in his tracks momentarily.

James shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Doe counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

and James counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

and Doe takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
James swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Doe counters with a left to the body.
James throws a sloppy head kick
and Doe counters with a lovely shot to the body.

and James counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

and Doe counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Doe is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down James rather than just go for the knockout.
James misses with a left hand
and Doe counters with a nice body shot.

James changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Doe tries to avoid it but James manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Doe to the ground. Doe escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Doe fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
James looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

and Doe counters with a nice body kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Doe manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Doe really doesn't want to stay on the ground with James. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Doe wants to improve his position but James is controlling well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That was a close second round but I would say that Rip James will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Doe. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Doe can do anything to dispel that myth.

Jon Doe comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Doe has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
