Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Martin Ruus!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Gwen Towbar and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ruus shoots in for a takedown but Woods shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Ruus shoots in looking for a takedown. Woods tries to sprawl out of it but Ruus keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Woods manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Woods closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Ruus tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Woods just stands there and leans against the cage.
James Woods has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Martin Ruus.
Ruus tries for a takedown but Woods manages to get underhooks.

Woods's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Woods throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Woods bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Woods cracks Ruus with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Woods is looking to take a break and control but Ruus is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Woods lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Ruus down.

Woods creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Ruus looks gassed!

and Woods counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Woods seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Woods not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Woods is working Ruus over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Woods has isolated one of Ruus's arms. Ruus looking to fight him off but Woods twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!
