Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Cael Sanderson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Richie Yang! The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Donatello Bradman and Steve Erwin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Yang fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Sanderson scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Yang is refusing to be controlled, as Sanderson sits in half guard. Yang actively working from the bottom here. Yang is trying to control but can't.
Yang gets back to full guard.
Yang escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Sanderson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Sanderson wants to control from the top but Yang keeps moving. Yang utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Sanderson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Yang has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Sanderson has managed to get both his arms back between Yang's legs - danger averted. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Yang is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Sanderson has his hands clasped together but Yang extends an breaks Sanderson's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Yang.
