Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Sebastien Roy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andreas Schmidt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sebastien Roy could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Andreas Schmidt's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sebastien Roy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Andreas Schmidt!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Steve Smith and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Roy shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Schmidt manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Roy trying to control but Schmidt is working from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Schmidt escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Roy gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Roy passes Schmidt's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Roy wants to lay and pray for a moment but Schmidt keeps working.
Roy wants to get back to his feet.

Schmidt wants to control but Roy is keeping busy.

Schmidt is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Roy pulls his head out easily.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Roy is nestled in close to Schmidt, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Roy is looking to advance position but Schmidt won't allow it.

Roy is just content to waste time from the top position. Schmidt takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Roy tries to free his leg and advance position but Schmidt is retaining full guard.

Schmidt escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Roy gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Roy forces his way into half guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Roy wants to take a breather but Schmidt is having none of it.
Schmidt is in trouble now - Roy has advanced to mount!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Roy looking to control but Schmidt is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sebastien Roy dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


The fight stays on the outside here - Roy looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Roy moves in looking to clinch but Schmidt pushes him off.

Roy gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Schmidt to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Roy working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Schmidt doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Schmidt manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Roy is trying to get back to full guard.
Roy has a hand on Schmidt's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Schmidt takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Schmidt fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!


It looks like Sebastien Roy has been cut.

Roy can't escape the position.
Schmidt scoring with strikes but Roy is staying in there.

Roy reaches up to try and control the position but Schmidt seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Roy rolls and tries to escape and now Schmidt has his back!

Andreas Schmidt has got the better of the ground game so far.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Schmidt is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Roy has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Andreas Schmidt showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Sebastien Roy's cut.
That's time! Roy's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Roy tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Schmidt paws at him with a jab and circles away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Roy shoots in and gets a takedown into Schmidt's guard.

Roy stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Schmidt swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Roy not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Roy is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Schmidt is controlling him.
Roy wants to improve his position but instead Schmidt has moved into half guard.
Roy is looking to control Schmidt's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Roy avoid being mounted?

Schmidt tries to pass to full mount but Roy defends it.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Sebastien Roy.
I think Roy has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
