The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hayabusa wants to clinch up but Steele keeps it at a distance. Steele keeps the fight on the outside. Hayabusa tries to clinch but Steele is having none of it. Steele shoots in and bounces Hayabusa off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Steele keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Hayabusa's head. Steele chips away with some ground and pound. Steele sitting in guard here, content to control. Steele has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Steele throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Steele is in close to Hayabusa's body, working some short punches and elbows. Steele wants to control from the top but Hayabusa keeps moving. Steele drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Hayabusa manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Steele has Hayabusa in his guard. Steele wriggles free and stands up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Steele scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Hanzo Hayabusa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A jab lands there for Steele. Steele scores with a nice head shot. Hayabusa tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Hayabusa lands a head kick!

Steele will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Steele gets the takedown into side control. Steele works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Hayabusa looks gassed! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Hayabusa takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Steele lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Steele lands a nice short elbow. Hayabusa is still in real trouble! Can Steele finish him? Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Steele in particular looking to stall. Steele drops an elbow to the side of Hayabusa's head. Steele looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Steele takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Steele lands a big elbow - Hayabusa is out of it! He's waving his arms around but his eyes are closed and he's not intelligently defending himself - the ref has no choice but to jump in and stop the fight! This one is in the books! A TKO win for Steele!
