Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Trond Carlos Bryne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joel Lopez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Joel Lopez told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Bryne as Lopez shoots in.
Lopez throws a right hand that Bryne ducks under and follows up with a left that Bryne also avoids with ease.
Bryne throws a head kick that half lands.

It looks like Joel Lopez has been cut.
Bryne shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Lopez counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Bryne keeping full guard, as Lopez tries to pass.
Lopez not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Bryne is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Bryne will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Bryne has a closed guard, preventing Lopez from standing up.

Bryne had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Lopez is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Bryne Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Lopez's back instead.
A lull in the action here.
Bryne throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch.
Lopez tries to escape the position.
Bryne has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Lopez breaks Bryne's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

Bryne keeping moving, preventing Lopez from controlling successfully.
Lopez must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Lopez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bryne. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Lopez is sitting in close to Bryne's body. Bryne has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Lopez is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Lopez is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Bryne.
