Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alessandro Manganello II (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Al Thome (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Alessandro Manganello II! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Al Thome! The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Steve Montenegro and David Schapiro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A head kick misses from Thome. Thome tries to clinch up. No luck with that takedown attempt from Manganello II. Thome closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Manganello II to the mat! Manganello II manages to get full guard. Thome missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Thome stopping the sweep attempt from Manganello II. Manganello II looking to control.
Thome stands up from Manganello II's guard - Thome perhaps looking for a knockout. Thome fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Manganello II sprawls well initially but Thome persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Manganello II tries to roll over but Thome keeps him under control. Thome decides to stand and escape the position. Manganello II doesn't succeed with the takedown and Thome decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Manganello II's guard. Thome throwing strikes from guard but Manganello II blocks nicely. Thome postures up in Manganello II's guard and throws a big left but Manganello II blocks it. Thome postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Thome drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Thome jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Thome postures up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Thome stands up and waves to Manganello II to follow him. Thome ducks under a wild hook from Manganello II. Thome moves into the clinch. Manganello II tries a body shot but Thome blocks it.

Manganello II with a lazy takedown attempt and Thome counters with a takedown into side control. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alessandro Manganello II. That's going to take a lot out of him. This has been an exciting period of action! Thome controlling the position from side mount. Manganello II gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! Manganello II can't escape the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Thome controlling his opponent. Manganello II keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Thome tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Manganello II blocking the ground and pound. Thome looking to finish with strikes here!
Thome throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Manganello II is looking to get to half guard. Thome controlling his opponent. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Al Thome dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Thome throws a body punch but Manganello II moves out of range. Manganello II shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Thome counters with a shoot takedown. Manganello II fights it but they end up in guard. Thome advances to half guard. Thome is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Manganello II defends it well. Manganello II is looking to get back to full guard here but Thome has managed to pass to side control instead. Thome unloads with some shots from mount but Manganello II bucks and avoids them well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Manganello II is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Thome controlling his opponent. Manganello II tries to control Thome's body but Thome pushes him off. Manganello II squirms to his side and now Thome has his back! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Manganello II rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Manganello II kicks Thome off and gets back to his feet. Manganello II takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Thome gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Manganello II to score an easy takedown into full guard. Manganello II wants to control from the top but Thome keeps moving.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Manganello II is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Thome is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Thome is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Thome performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Manganello II trying to control but Thome postures up.
Thome postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Manganello II to stand up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Manganello II fails with the takedown and Thome counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Manganello II's guard now. Al Thome has got the better of the ground game so far. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Thome passes into half guard. Manganello II is in trouble now - Thome has advanced to mount! Thome sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Thome has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Let's hope that Thome has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Thome has hold of Manganello II's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Manganello II manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Thome looking to control and managing it successfully. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Thome avoids the attempt from Manganello II to control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Al Thome showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!
Manganello II shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Thome counters with a nice double leg into side control. Manganello II won't be happy with that. Thome is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Manganello II has escaped the position, nice work there. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. Thome working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Thome decides to stand back up. Thome steps back and let's Manganello II get back to his feet. Manganello II tries to clinch but fails miserably and Thome counters by moving into the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Thome breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Thome connects with a good right hand that stumbles Manganello II. Manganello II circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
It looks like Alessandro Manganello II has been cut. Thome shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Thome looking to pass the guard. Thome is pushing down on Manganello II's leg trying to pass to half guard. Manganello II is fighting to maintain full guard but Thome has managed to sneak the leg through. Thome prevents Manganello II from improving his position. Manganello II blocking the ground and pound attempt from Thome. Manganello II trying to control from the bottom.
Manganello II is in trouble now - Thome has advanced to mount! Thome looking for a guillotine from mount but Manganello II is having none of it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Manganello II working to try and regain half guard.
Thome thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

That's three minutes gone in the round. Thome thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage. Thome gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks! Manganello II has his takedown stuffed and Thome counters with a nice double leg into side control. Manganello II won't be happy with that. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Thome is staying tight to Manganello II's torso, preventing him from escaping. Manganello II is trying to work for a sweep but Thome has mounted him!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Thome throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. Manganello II is trying to reverse the position but instead Thome has taken his back - oops! Manganello II looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment. Manganello II is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
Thome looking for the choke from the back. Thome has been the more effective fighter overall so far. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Thome is riding his opponent, not letting Manganello II buck him off.
And that's the end of the fight! Al Thome comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Thome has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
