PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mark Brown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Simon Taylor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brown comes to the cage accompanied by Emanuel - The Hey Man. Taylor is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Peanut Butter Jelly Time. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mark Brown!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Simon Taylor!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Anthony Taglia and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Taylor looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Good work by Brown as he checks the leg kick.
Taylor missing with a left hand there. Brown was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Simon Taylor seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A slow jab from Taylor misses its intended target.
Taylor looks to land a left hand but Brown moved out of range nicely.
Brown misses with a wild body shot.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Brown enables Taylor to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Brown manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Brown tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Brown wants to get back to his feet but Taylor is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Taylor stays in close to Brown's body and controls the position.

Brown has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Taylor off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Brown moves out of range as Taylor strikes.

Taylor throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Brown.

and Brown counters with a nice low kick that buckles Taylor's knee momentarily.

and Brown makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
A looping hook to the body misses from Taylor. Brown does a little dance to reset his feet.

and Brown counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.

Brown connects with a leg kick. Taylor looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Brown throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Brown misses with a hook. Taylor ducked under it nicely.

Taylor moves out of range of the leg kick from Brown.
Taylor takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Brown on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.

That was a close round but I would say that Mark Brown will probably get the nod.
That's time! Brown's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Taylor rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Brown moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Brown wants to clinch
and Taylor counters with a leg kick.

Taylor shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Brown counters with an outside leg kick.

The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Brown checks a leg kick.
Taylor misses the shot to the body.
Brown moves forwards but Taylor connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Taylor.

enabling Brown to counter with a crisp jab.
Brown thows a body kick. Taylor tries to catch it but that hurt him.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A swing and a miss from Taylor.
Taylor ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Brown moves away.
Brown closes the distance looking to clinch
and Taylor counters with a head kick. That will keep Brown thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Brown with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Taylor to score with a decent uppercut.
Taylor fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Brown manages to avoid it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
A low kick from Brown is predictable there
letting Taylor counter with a right hand.
A jab from Taylor finds it's way through Brown's defenses.
Brown goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
An inside leg kick lands from Taylor.
Taylor throws a right hand that Brown ducks under and follows up with a left that Brown also avoids with ease.
Horrible takedown by Taylor or perhaps it was just good defense by Brown which made him look bad.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Simon Taylor showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Taylor throws a nice looking combination but Brown bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Brown chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Taylor can pounce on him.

Brown closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Mark Brown.
I think Brown has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
