Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between H Y Kwon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Swanson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Kwon might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Deadmau5 - Ghosts N Stuff. H Y Kwon could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Joe Swanson's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, H Y Kwon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joe Swanson!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Alan Glass and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Swanson misses with a head kick.
Swanson paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Swanson moves out of range of the body kick.
Swanson moves out of range as Kwon strikes.
Swanson misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Kwon.
Kwon lands a leg kick that knocks Swanson off balance momentarily.
Swanson scores with a sloppy right hand. Kwon should have avoided that one.
Swanson shoots in for a double leg but Kwon sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Swanson moves out of range of the strikes.
Kwon cracks Swanson with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Kwon misses the jab.
Kwon moves in looking to clinch but Swanson pushes him off.
Swanson lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Kwon misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Kwon is looking to clinch but Swanson is avoiding it.
Kwon thuds his right hand into Swanson's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Kwon tries to score a body lock takedown but Swanson shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Swanson throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Kwon is breathing heavily.
Kwon tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Swanson just stands there and leans against the cage.
Swanson lands with a left to the head.
Kwon jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Swanson walks away with a smile on his face. Kwon gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Swanson slips a jab from Kwon.
A left and a right from Swanson both land. Nice combination.
Kwon is looking to clinch but Swanson is avoiding it.
Kwon blocks a head kick by Swanson.
Kwon lands the left hand.
Kwon bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Swanson's head backwards.
Kwon lands a nice shot to the body.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Swanson lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kwon tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Swanson paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Swanson lands with a left to the head.
Swanson scores with a shoulder strike.
Swanson lands a nice shot to the body.

Swanson pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Kwon throws a right hand that Swanson ducks under and follows up with a left that Swanson also avoids with ease.
A big left from Kwon misses.
Swanson cracks Kwon with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Kwon lands a slapping body shot.
A punch combination from Kwon misses.
Kwon throws a body punch but Swanson moves out of range.
Swanson jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Kwon forces Swanson back against the cage and clinches.
Kwon can't get the takedown.
Swanson blocks the elbow strike.
Kwon's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Kwon turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Kwon manages to end up in side control.

Kwon looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Kwon is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Swanson is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Kwon swings around for an armbar but Swanson sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Kwon's guard.
Swanson with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Swanson missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Swanson trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Swanson lands a couple of elbows.

Kwon looking for a guillotine here but Swanson defends easily.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Kwon trying to control the position.
Kwon wants to improve his position but instead Swanson has moved into half guard.
Kwon tries to get to full guard but Swanson has control of the leg.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Swanson is controlling the pace.
Swanson slips a nice elbow through Kwon's hands, connecting with Kwon's forehead.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Kwon's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Kwon duly obliges.
Joe Swanson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Swanson moves in looking to clinch but Kwon pushes him off.

Kwon wants to clinch up but Swanson keeps it at a distance.
Swanson leaves Kwon with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Kwon cracks Swanson with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Swanson shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Kwon is trying to defend but Swanson finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Kwon is concentrating on defense, preventing Swanson from advancing position.
Swanson slows the pace down in half guard.
Kwon has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Swanson is working away from the top position though.
Swanson takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Swanson tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Kwon is able to avoid easily.
Swanson walks into a straight right hand from Kwon.
Swanson throws a sloppy head kick and Kwon moves out of range easily.
Kwon connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Swanson throws a shot from downtown. Kwon moves away and avoids it.
Kwon shoots in and drives through. Swanson sprawls well.
Kwon misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Swanson.
Kwon looks to land a right hand but Swanson moved out of range.
Swanson misses with a hook. Kwon ducked under it nicely.
Swanson looks to throw the jab but Kwon is out of range.
Kwon tries to close the distance and clinch up but Swanson swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Swanson ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

Swanson throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Kwon was covering up waiting for the punch and Swanson finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Kwon wants to control the position but Swanson says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Kwon is looking for a sweep. Swanson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Swanson seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Kwon is concentrating on defense, preventing Swanson from advancing position.

Kwon is trying to maintain the position but Swanson is very close to passing his half guard.
Kwon tries to get to full guard but Swanson has control of the leg.

Swanson is looking for a kimura but Kwon is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Swanson to get the leverage.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Swanson lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Kwon is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Swanson jumps into side control!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Kwon tries to escape but Swanson is in control.

Kwon tries to improve position but can't.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Swanson is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Kwon is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

A close second round but Joe Swanson will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Swanson tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kwon was well out of range. Poor timing from Swanson.

Swanson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Kwon is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
A looping hook to the body misses from Kwon. Swanson does a little dance to reset his feet.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Swanson clinches up with Kwon and pushes him back against the cage.
Kwon has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Swanson is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Swanson lands a really nice looking cross but Kwon seems unphased.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Swanson creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Kwon is trying to drag Swanson to the mat but Swanson just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

H Y Kwon has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Kwon doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Swanson punishes Kwon's body with a nice straight punch.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Swanson throws a head kick that looked like it stung.

and Kwon counters with a one-two to the body.
Swanson throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Swanson lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

And that's the end of the fight!
Joe Swanson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Swanson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
