Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Nikolai Zoliev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jan Mayer!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Ben Zyskovitsi and Johanna Lukiainen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mayer throws a hook but Zoliev avoids it easily.
Mayer tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Mayer scores with a sloppy right hand. Zoliev should have avoided that one.
It looks like Nikolai Zoliev has been cut.
Zoliev shoots in for a takedown but Mayer shows good takedown defense.
Good exchange - Mayer coming out on top.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
A combination from Zoliev does no damage.
Zoliev shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Mayer but Mayer pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Zoliev tries for a takedown but Mayer sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nikolai Zoliev. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mayer throws a hook but Zoliev blocks it.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Zoliev.
A telegraphed right hand from Mayer misses the target.
Mayer lands a left and a right that send Zoliev crashing to the mat, dazed. Mayer thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Zoliev. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
Zoliev misses with the combination.
Mayer lands the left hand.
Zoliev is breathing heavily.
Decent striking displayed by Mayer there.
Nikolai Zoliev's cut is getting worse.
Mayer sends Zoliev crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Mayer is motioning to the referee to let Zoliev up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
Zoliev is rocked!
That's one minute gone in the round.
Zoliev drops his hands momentarily. Mayer doesn't need a second invitation, landing a shot to the temple. Zoliev staggers and falls to the mat and the ref dives in to save him from any more punishment. Zoliev doesn't seem happy with the stoppage but he was done.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:06 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Jan Mayer!
