PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Keith Keystone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcus Saplin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Saplin comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Invincible kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Saplin has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Marcus Saplin has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Keith Keystone!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Marcus Saplin!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Bruno Hogan and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Keystone shoots in for a takedown but Saplin shows good takedown defense.

Keystone shoots in looking for a takedown. Saplin tries to sprawl out of it but Keystone keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Saplin manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Saplin is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Keystone throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Saplin's waist but Saplin gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Keystone off to one side.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Saplin is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Keystone creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Saplin is looking to regain half guard here but Keystone keeps moving and retains side control.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Keystone's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Keystone seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Saplin for as long as he can get away with.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Keystone lands a big shot there that rocks Saplin but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Keystone postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Saplin looks a forlorn figure.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Keystone takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
