The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Paulo Santos and Leandro Rodrigues.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hess walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Dmuchowski checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Dmuchowski pushes Hess up against the cage in a clinch.
Dmuchowski missing with knees to the body.
Dmuchowski throws an elbow but it misses.
Dmuchowski has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Hess is trying to keep an underhook but Dmuchowski manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Dmuchowski looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Dmuchowski wants to pass to mount but Hess is defending the position.
Dmuchowski is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Dmuchowski thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Hess's head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dmuchowski slips a nice elbow through Hess's hands, connecting with Hess's forehead.
Dmuchowski lands with a punch from half guard.
Dmuchowski passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Hess!
Dmuchowski has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Hess's face.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Dmuchowski loads up with a big shot that hurts Hess! He's pulled Dmuchowski in close but Dmuchowski has postured up and lands more strikes. Can Hess survive? More strikes from Dmuchowski and Hess is out! The ref jumps in to save him! Brutal ground and pound!
