Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Wes Chapman! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Enrico Mariani! The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Taro Takaoka and Shirou Masuda.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mariani tries to close the distance and clinch up but Chapman swats him away and circles back towards the center. Mariani slaps away a takedown attempt from Chapman, before circling back to the center of the mat. Chapman tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Chapman shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Chapman showed some decent athleticism there. Chapman prevents Mariani from improving his position. Chapman takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Chapman lands strikes from half guard. Chapman throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
That's one minute gone in the round. Chapman missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Mariani has hold of Chapman's hands but Chapman slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
It looks like Enrico Mariani has been cut. Chapman throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Chapman is nestled in close to Mariani, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Chapman connects with a nice short shot to Mariani's temple. Chapman thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Mariani's head. Ground and pound from Chapman. Chapman throwing shots but Mariani is blocking nicely. Chapman winds up and cracks Mariani with a swinging punch to the side of the head. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Mariani keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Nice strikes from Chapman there.
The cut above Enrico Mariani's eye is starting to cause him problems now.

Enrico Mariani's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Enrico Mariani's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Wes Chapman!
