Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mirra Hinoda! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Cristian Dezmirean! The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Sosuke Kotani.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hinoda gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Dezmirean to score an easy takedown into full guard. Dezmirean trying to control but Hinoda is working from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hinoda throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Dezmirean is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Hinoda is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Dezmirean trying to control but Hinoda is working from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hinoda is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Dezmirean is aware though and is defending well. Hinoda has his foot on Dezmirean's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Dezmirean works his way back into a safe position though. Dezmirean is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Dezmirean got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hinoda has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Dezmirean has managed to get both his arms back between Hinoda's legs - danger averted. Dezmirean controlling from the top position. Hinoda trying to strike off his back.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dezmirean has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Hinoda is proving hard to escape from. Dezmirean is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. OK we're going to have a standup here. Cristian Dezmirean hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Hinoda with a lazy takedown attempt so Dezmirean counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Dezmirean trying to control the position from guard on top but Hinoda is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hinoda wants to sweep but no luck. Hinoda is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Dezmirean is aware though and is defending well. Dezmirean preventing the sweep. Dezmirean pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Hinoda is keeping the position for now. Hinoda escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Dezmirean gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Dezmirean stopping the sweep attempt from Hinoda. Hinoda keeping full guard, as Dezmirean tries to pass. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Dezmirean sitting in guard here, content to control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Cristian Dezmirean dominated that round. That's time! Hinoda's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Dezmirean shoots in and bounces Hinoda off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Hinoda bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Dezmirean's guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Dezmirean can do anything to dispel that myth. Hinoda passes easily into side control. Nice work. What's Dezmirean going to do here then? He's in a bit of a pickle. Hinoda in side control, throwing shots but Dezmirean defends.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dezmirean wants to get back to his feet but Hinoda drags him back down. Dezmirean manages to get back to half guard. Dezmirean looks like he's trying to stand up.
Hinoda is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Dezmirean doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Hinoda. Hinoda is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Hinoda passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Dezmirean! Hinoda will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Dezmirean is bucking up trying to escape but Hinoda cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Hinoda punching from mount but Dezmirean doing a good job of avoiding damage. Hinoda thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Dezmirean wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Hinoda.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dezmirean wants to hold on but Hinoda pushes him away. Hinoda misses with a head shot. Hinoda moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Dezmirean has worked his arm free - good work by Dezmirean!
Hinoda misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Dezmirean dodges the ground and pound from Hinoda. Dezmirean can't do much from the bottom here. Hinoda creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hinoda working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
The ground and pound from Hinoda seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Dezmirean on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Dezmirean tries to get back to half guard but can't. Dezmirean can't do much from the bottom here. Hinoda has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Hinoda landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. The strikes coming from Hinoda are missing the target in this wave of attacks. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mirra Hinoda dominated that second round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round!
Hinoda throws a looping overhand right but Dezmirean ducks down to avoid it. Dezmirean fails with the takedown so Hinoda counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Hinoda wants to pass the guard but Dezmirean is keeping the position. Hinoda being controlled here momentarily. Dezmirean preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Dezmirean looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hinoda is one step ahead there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hinoda missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Hinoda is pushing down on Dezmirean's leg trying to pass to half guard. Dezmirean is fighting to maintain full guard but Hinoda has managed to sneak the leg through. Dezmirean won't allow Hinoda to pass to mount. Dezmirean tries to get to full guard but Hinoda has control of the leg. Hinoda prevents Dezmirean from standing back up.
Mirra Hinoda overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Hinoda looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Dezmirean keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Hinoda tries to pass to full mount but Dezmirean defends it. Hinoda is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Dezmirean! Dezmirean can't escape the position.
Hinoda throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Dezmirean because Hinoda loaded up on that one. Hinoda throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Hinoda cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

That's three minutes gone in the round. Dezmirean is trying to stand up. Hinoda with the ground and pound from mount. Dezmirean blocking the ground and pound. Dezmirean tries to buck Hinoda off but he can't manage it. Dezmirean takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Dezmirean suckers Hinoda into throwing a sloppy strike and uses the momentum to reverse the position beautifully! Dezmirean is now in Hinoda's guard!
Dezmirean wants to control from the top but Hinoda keeps moving.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dezmirean stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hinoda swivels though and keeps the full guard. Hinoda has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Dezmirean can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Dezmirean preventing the sweep. Hinoda is striking from the bottom but Dezmirean uses the opportunity to pass into half guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Mirra Hinoda showed his dominance in that final round. Well Hinoda has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
