Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Chris Gilstrap (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Makoto Kawamoto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Chris Gilstrap! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Makoto Kawamoto! The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Shirou Masuda and Yukihiro Shimada.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice shot by Gilstrap. Gilstrap defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Kawamoto. Gilstrap shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Gilstrap throws a strike but Kawamoto rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Gilstrap utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Gilstrap wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Gilstrap has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Kawamoto controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Gilstrap pulls Kawamoto in to control the position. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Kawamoto throws and elbow that misses. Gilstrap uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Kawamoto's guard. Nice move by Gilstrap!
That's one minute gone in the round. Gilstrap trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Gilstrap is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Gilstrap tries to free his leg and advance position but Kawamoto is retaining full guard. Kawamoto looking to hit a scissor sweep but Gilstrap is one step ahead there.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Gilstrap lands a lovely overhand right. A momentary lapse in concentration from Gilstrap enables Kawamoto to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Gilstrap manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Gilstrap looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kawamoto is one step ahead there. Gilstrap is trying to keep Kawamoto in close.
Gilstrap on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Gilstrap tries to get out of the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kawamoto throws a strike but Gilstrap rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Gilstrap will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Gilstrap throws a big right hand that misses. Gilstrap seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gilstrap stopping the sweep attempt from Kawamoto.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gilstrap throws and elbow that misses. Kawamoto uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Gilstrap's guard. Nice move by Kawamoto! Gilstrap manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

That's four minutes gone in the round. Gilstrap controlling from mount. Kawamoto is wriggling around trying to escape.
Kawamoto wants to hold on but Gilstrap pushes him away. Gilstrap looking to finish Kawamoto with some ground and pound. This is bad for Kawamoto! Kawamoto is squirming around, avoiding Gilstrap's attempts to control the action. Gilstrap lands a nice shot to the head. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Chris Gilstrap dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Kawamoto walks into a straight right hand from Gilstrap. Gilstrap throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Kawamoto stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Kawamoto looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Gilstrap avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Kawamoto. Gilstrap is trying to maintain the position but Kawamoto is very close to passing his half guard. Gilstrap gets back to full guard.
Kawamoto looking to sit in guard and control but Gilstrap gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Kawamoto can't keep his opponent in guard - Gilstrap advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Kawamoto wants to get back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kawamoto trying to control but Gilstrap postures up.
Gilstrap is stalling here. Kawamoto is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Gilstrap seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Kawamoto has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. Gilstrap is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Kawamoto creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Gilstrap sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Gilstrap manages to work his way to half guard, despite Kawamoto's best efforts. Gilstrap is concentrating on defense, preventing Kawamoto from advancing position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Kawamoto seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Gilstrap does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Gilstrap is looking to improve his position.
Gilstrap has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kawamoto is working away from the top position though. Kawamoto drops an elbow to the side of Gilstrap's head. Kawamoto content to control rather than advance. Gilstrap makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Gilstrap. Gilstrap keeping moving, preventing Kawamoto from controlling successfully. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kawamoto accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Kawamoto must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gilstrap tries to land a sweep but no joy. Gilstrap keeping moving, preventing Kawamoto from controlling successfully. Gilstrap is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Gilstrap has taken the fight to the clinch.
Kawamoto is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Kawamoto drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Gilstrap is pushing Kawamoto up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. Kawamoto goes for a takedown in the clinch but Gilstrap prevents it.
Chris Gilstrap has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Makoto Kawamoto. Gilstrap content to slow the pace in the clinch.

Gilstrap softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage. Kawamoto changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Gilstrap fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Kawamoto moves forwards but Gilstrap connects with a nice, crisp jab. Gilstrap lands a jab to Kawamoto's midsection. Kawamoto is breathing heavily. Nice body punch from Gilstrap. Gilstrap stalks Kawamoto and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Kawamoto's face. Kawamoto staggers backwards, shaken. Makoto Kawamoto seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Gilstrap lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Gilstrap shoots in for a takedown and gets it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A decent looking cross lands there for Gilstrap. Gilstrap lands a left and a right that sends Kawamoto crashing to the canvas! Gilstrap dives into mount looking to finish!
Kawamoto is rocked! Gilstrap looking to control but Kawamoto is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Kawamoto is still in real trouble! Can Gilstrap finish him? Kawamoto takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Gilstrap's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
