Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, AJ Robles! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Andy Silva! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Silva tries to clinch there but Robles circles away.
Robles swats away the attempt to clinch by Silva. Silva tries to close the distance and clinch up but Robles swats him away and circles back towards the center. Robles swats away the attempt to clinch by Silva. Silva is looking to clinch but Robles is avoiding it.
Robles swats away the attempt to clinch by Silva. The fight stays on the outside here - Silva looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Robles closes the distance and clinches. Robles can't find room to land a body shot as Silva controls the action.
Silva is looking to break free of the clinch but Robles has double underhooks. Robles managing to block the knees to the body from Silva.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Robles fails to pull guard.
Silva wants a takedown.
Silva is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body. A hook to the body from Robles.
Silva tries to land a knee to the head but Robles blocks with his arms.
A frustrated look appears on Silva's face as he tries to break the clinch. Robles blocks an elbow strike from Silva.
Robles has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Silva uses from the top position. Silva is looking to stand up but Robles won't let him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Silva avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Robles escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Silva gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Robles trying to keep a closed guard but Silva is proving a slippery customer.
Silva throws and elbow that misses. Robles uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Silva's guard. Nice move by Robles! Robles trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Robles has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Robles wants to control from the top but Silva keeps moving.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Silva bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Robles's guard. Robles working for a triangle but Silva defends it easily.
Robles is breathing heavily. Silva thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Silva wants to control from the top but Robles keeps moving. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Silva throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Robles works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Silva pushes down on Robles's leg and manages to get into half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Silva is looking for a kimura but Robles is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Silva to get the leverage. Robles is looking for a sweep. Silva is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Silva thows a huge punch but Robles dodges it nicely.
Silva tries to pass to full mount but Robles defends it. Robles trying to hold on to Silva's head to control him but Silva postures up.
Silva wants to control but Robles is keeping him busy. Silva is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Silva prevents Robles from improving his position. Robles trying to control from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Robles is trying to get back to full guard. Silva sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Robles defending well though. Silva seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Robles is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
