The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Gomes steps into range and cracks Lando with a monster punch that buckles his knees! Lando flops backwards and Gomes dives into his guard looking to finish!

Lando closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Lando lands in his opponent's guard.

Lando shoots in for a takedown but Gomes shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Lando changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Gomes tries to avoid it but Lando manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Gomes to the ground. Gomes escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Lando closes the distance and clinches up with Gomes, looking for a takedown. Lando pushes Gomes against the cage but Gomes circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Gomes working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Gomes is just content to waste time from the top position. Lando takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Gomes drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Lando dives on top into guard.
