Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Black (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dave Burton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jack Black!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dave Burton!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A combination from Black does no damage.

Burton drives through and clinches with Black against the cage.

Black manages to pull guard.
Black has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Burton has passed into side control.
Black is trying to control Burton's posture but Burton avoids it.
Black might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Burton has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Burton rushes Black and presses him up against the cage.
Black really is a fat lump.
Black wants to stall.
Burton has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Black is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Black is trying to drag Burton to the mat but Burton just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Burton turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Black tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Burton wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Burton controlling from side mount.
Let's hope that Burton has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
You can see the frustration on Black's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Black is being controlled here.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Dave Burton was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Burton decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Black is trying to maintain the position but Burton is very close to passing his half guard.
Burton wants to get back to his feet.
Black wants to get back to full guard.
Burton keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Black wants to control but Burton is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Burton stands up out of the half guard.
Black tries to clinch up

and Burton counters by moving into the clinch.
Black trying to control the position but instead, Burton has worked for underhooks and has pushed Black into the cage.
Black tries to pull guard but Burton won't allow it.
Burton gets underhooks to prevent Black's takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jack Black. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Burton throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Black blocks it with crossed arms.
Burton has had enough of the clinch but Black keeps him there for the moment.
Burton can't get the takedown.
Black is looking to break free of the clinch but Burton has double underhooks.
Black keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Burton's efforts to push away.
Burton tries for a takedown but Black manages to get underhooks.

Burton has Black pressed against the cage, preventing Black from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Burton fails to pull guard.
Black fails to pull guard.
Burton is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Burton presses Black against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Black is breathing heavily.

Burton's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
No luck for Burton with that takedown attempt.
Burton scores with a jab to the body.
Black clinches but Burton breaks the clinch
and Burton counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Black thinking.
Burton shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Black but Black pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Black wants to clinch
and Burton counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dave Burton dominated that round.

Black with a poor takedown

and Burton decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Black's guard.
Burton sitting in guard here, content to control.
Burton stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Black swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Burton really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Black. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Burton controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Black is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Burton seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Dave Burton hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Black with a poor takedown

and Burton decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Black's guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Burton's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Burton works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Burton works his way into side control.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Burton thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Burton decides to stand back up. Burton steps back and let's Black get back to his feet.

Burton shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Burton trying to mount his opponent but Black defends it.

Burton postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Black to stand up.
Burton shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Black pinned against the cage. Black gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
A head kick misses from Burton.

Burton drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Burton with a nice head shot there.

Burton stays in close to Black's body and controls the position.
Burton postures up and lands a big shot to Black's brow.
Burton content to stall in guard here.
Burton must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Burton wants to pass the guard but Black is keeping the position.
Burton is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Black wants to hit a switch here but Burton passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Black there!
Black is trying to escape the mount but Burton keeps good control and instead manages to take Black's back.
Burton just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
Black trying to control the action but Burton just sinks the hooks in.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Burton has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Black's body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dave Burton showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Black closes the distance but Burton moves to the side

and Burton counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Burton lands with a punch from half guard.
Burton wants to free his trapped foot but Black is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Burton is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Burton seems to be looking for submissions.

Black tries to kick Burton off but Burton keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Black tries to roll over but Burton keeps him under control.
Burton is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Burton is thwarting Black's attempts to control the position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Burton looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Black!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Burton controlling the pace for now.

Burton jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Black manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Burton tries to move into full mount but can't pass Black's legs.
Black tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Black is being controlled here.

Burton stands up.
Burton looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Black is fending him off so far but Burton persists. Nope, Black circles away and we're back to standing.
Burton has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
The fight stays on the outside here - Burton looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Burton shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Black sprawls well. Black wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Burton gets slowly back to his feet.
Black shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Burton counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Black regains full guard. Nicely done.

Burton stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Burton throws a low kick but Black moves out of range easily.
Burton will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Jack Black has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dave Burton.
Burton moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Burton fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Black avoids it really well and circles away.
Jack Black has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Dave Burton is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Black throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Burton.

Dave Burton comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Burton has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
