4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Paul Desmoraine! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Sergei Shlemenko! The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Leandro Rodrigues and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Desmoraine stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Shlemenko. Shlemenko throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Desmoraine shoots for a double leg takedown but Shlemenko sprawls well. He's pushed Desmoraine's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Desmoraine takes a kick to the body and keeps moving. Desmoraine avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Shlemenko goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
It looks like Paul Desmoraine has been cut. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Shlemenko lands a big head kick that sends Desmoraine tumbling to the mat! Shlemenko takes a step backwards and waves Desmoraine back to his feet - he wants the finish! Shlemenko throws a head kick that misses. Sergei Shlemenko seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Shlemenko gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Desmoraine decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Shlemenko's guard.

Desmoraine drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Shlemenko dives on top into guard. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Desmoraine is on top in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Desmoraine not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Shlemenko is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Desmoraine is looking to advance position but Shlemenko has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount! Shlemenko can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Desmoraine is looking to escape. Desmoraine keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Shlemenko wants to control the pace but Desmoraine is squirming around nicely. Desmoraine is looking to get to half guard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Desmoraine is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Shlemenko trying to control but Desmoraine is having none of it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

and Desmoraine counters with a left to the body. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Shlemenko tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Desmoraine counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Desmoraine.
That's one minute gone in the round. Desmoraine is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Desmoraine lands a couple of decent looking shots. Desmoraine trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Shlemenko has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Desmoraine off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Desmoraine fails with a takedown attempt. Shlemenko fails to land the takedown.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Desmoraine shoots in and drives through. Shlemenko sprawls well. Shlemenko throws a sloppy head kick and Desmoraine moves out of range easily. Desmoraine shoots in and bounces Shlemenko off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Shlemenko keeping full guard, as Desmoraine tries to pass. Desmoraine wants to get up but he can't break Shlemenko's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Desmoraine is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Shlemenko is looking to stand up but Desmoraine isn't so interested in that idea.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Paul Desmoraine just wasn't active enough. Shlemenko throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Shlemenko checks a leg kick. Desmoraine swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Shlemenko counters with a stiff right hand. Shlemenko gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Shlemenko takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Desmoraine checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Shlemenko throws a head kick that misses. Desmoraine swats away the attempt to clinch by Shlemenko. Desmoraine wants to clinch up but Shlemenko keeps it at a distance. Nice takedown defense from Shlemenko. No joy for Desmoraine on that attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Paul Desmoraine. That's going to take a lot out of him. Shlemenko fails with the takedown. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Desmoraine wants to finish this one by submission but Shlemenko is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Desmoraine. Shlemenko tries to hold on but Desmoraine postures up. Desmoraine knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Shlemenko on the ground.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Desmoraine goes for an armbar but Shlemenko turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Shlemenko. Desmoraine keeping moving, preventing Shlemenko from controlling successfully. Desmoraine throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Desmoraine tries to land a sweep but no joy. Desmoraine lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Shlemenko! The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Desmoraine cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Desmoraine looking to finish Shlemenko with some ground and pound. This is bad for Shlemenko! Shlemenko is trying to get back to his feet but can't. Shlemenko in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Desmoraine raining down shots from the mount! Shlemenko is in all sorts of trouble here.

Shlemenko has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Desmoraine closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Shlemenko quickly recovers to half guard.

Desmoraine is looking to take a break and control but Shlemenko is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Desmoraine is looking for a kimura but Shlemenko is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Desmoraine to get the leverage. Desmoraine landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Desmoraine is trying to control the action in half guard but Shlemenko is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Desmoraine tries to clinch but Shlemenko moves away and Shlemenko counters with a left and a right that stings Desmoraine. Desmoraine misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Shlemenko tried to score with a low kick but Desmoraine checks it. The fighters circling - Desmoraine throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Shlemenko bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick. Sergei Shlemenko is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shlemenko lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Desmoraine circles away quickly and effectively. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Shlemenko!
