PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sam Uri (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ehavoc dugre (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Sam Uri!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ehavoc dugre!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Eliza Hachem and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
dugre looks to land a combination but Uri avoids it well.
Uri fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
dugre has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from dugre there as he acknowledges the shot.
A nice combination there by dugre.


It looks like Sam Uri has been cut.
Uri is trying hard to land a takedown here. dugre sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
dugre throws a right and a left that both miss.
dugre looks to land a combination but Uri avoids it well.
No joy there for dugre, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
dugre misses with a wild combination.
dugre misses with a series of wild punches.
dugre misses with a wild combination.

Uri shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Uri is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Uri is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Uri is looking to take a break and control but dugre is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Uri trying to pass the guard but dugre defending well.
Uri is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Uri jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… dugre is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by dugre and Uri has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
dugre is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Uri wants to take a breather but dugre manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Uri.

Uri won't allow dugre to get back to his feet.

Uri drops back looking for a leg! dugre is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and dugre manages to kick Uri off! Uri jumps back into dugre's guard.

Uri wants to control from the top but dugre keeps moving.
dugre is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
dugre is looking to stand up but Uri isn't so interested in that idea.
Uri might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Uri trying to control the position from guard on top but dugre is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Uri advances position into side control!
dugre is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Uri tries for a kimura but dugre is defending well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Sam Uri will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Sam Uri's cut.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Uri feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
dugre wants to sweep but no luck.

Uri drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but dugre manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Uri has dugre in his guard.

Uri has an active guard here but dugre has managed to pass into half guard.
dugre is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Uri makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Uri.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Uri working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. dugre doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. dugre manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Uri looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but dugre is defending well. Uri quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! dugre has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Uri celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:31 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Sam Uri!
